JSW Motors, parent company of MG Motors in India, has announced its first car in the country, independent of the company’s joint venture with MG. The car that has been reported to be the first JSW car will be a Jetour T2, which might come in collaboration with Chery, a Chinese manufacturer behind Jetour brand which was launched in 2018. The Jetour T2 SUV will be launched with a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid powertrain and is said to hit the showrooms by the third quarter of 2026. Let us take a closer look at what to expect from this upcoming SUV from JSW Motors.

Jetour T2 Design

The Jetous T2 has a rugged, jeep-like adventure oriented design. We are getting a Jeep Wrangler-like stance, but with a unibody structure. The Jetour T2 has a boxy, muscular, off-roader silhouette, which gives this car a very different look from what is available in the market currently. In terms of dimensions, the Jetour T2 measures 4,785 mm in length 2,006 mm in width, and 1,875 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,800mm. This means that this boxy, 5-seater Jeep-like SUV will be bigger than the Tata Safari.

Jetour T2 Features and Tech

Coming to the features and tech that the Jetous T2 offers, the car is loaded with modern tech and some off-road centric features. It comes with a massive 15.6-inch display which acts as the control centre and the infotainment display on the Jetour T2. Further, the SUV also comes with features like ADAS level 2, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and more.

Jetour T2 Powertrain and Engine

According to the Autocar report that hinted at the Jetour T2’s arrival in India, the car will only come with a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid powertrain to India. While there are pure ICE versions of the T2 available globally, India is said to get only the 1.5-litre hybrid option, mainly due to JSW Motors’ focus on sustainable mobility in India. The plug-in hybrid version comes in both AWD and FWD drivetrains, but we are not sure which of the two will be coming to India.

Jetour T2 Pricing and Variants

Not much is known about the price and positioning of the Jetour T2 in India, but it is expected to be a premium product. The FWD 5-seater variant of the Jetour T2 retails at about AED 144,000 in the UAE, which translates to about 35.4 lakh rupees in India. Given the competitive market and the fact that India will most likely get a stripped-down version of the T2, we can expect JSW Motors to keep the starting price at just under ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). This, however, is supposed to be taken with a pinch of salt since no official information or report is available on the pricing of the Jetour T2 in India.
