Although the JioPhone Next wasn’t the next-level value smartphone we expected, a new phone from Reliance Jio is around the corner. This new handset would be bringing 5G to an ultra-budget segment and this will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset. That and many other key specs of the device are out thanks to a report by folks at Android Central. And this post also gives a ballpark idea of when to expect Jio’s ambitious 5G rollout in the country. [हिंदी में पढ़ें]

So, let’s unpack the details.

JioPhone 5G Specs (expected)

JioPhone 5G will be sporting a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen. Being a budget device, it is likely to have proper bezels on the front. And up top within this black margin, there would be an 8MP selfie snapper.

Internally, the phone will be packing a Snapdragon 480 5G chipset with an X65 modem. This would enable support for N3, N5, N28, N40, N78 5G bands. There will also be a place for a 5000mAh non-removable battery (backed by 18W charging), 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.

Other things in the mix are a microSD slot, 3.5mm jack, USB-C port, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and Android 11 based custom software with Google and Jio suite of apps.

JioPhone 5G Price and Availability (expected)

Like the JioPhone Next, this device too could be announced at the Reliance AGM in June of 2022 and released later on. The former had hit the store shelves in November only. Anyways, the report conjectures the Indian pricing to be between ₹9,000 to ₹12,000. To undercut the competition, it could be priced below 10,000 INR. However, as these figures are guesstimates, we suggest you take them with a grain of salt.
