HTC’s last relevant flagship device was the U12+ and the company has been silent ever since. It’s not like the company stopped launching smartphones, just that they were not actively promoting their smartphones or making their presence felt.

Now, the company has officially teased a new smartphone that will be launching on June 12. The teaser was posted by the company’s official X handle and its Taiwan Facebook page as well.

Rumors say that this will be the HTC U24 Pro, the successor to the HTC U23 Pro. Yes, there was an HTC U23 Pro and it had a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, 1080p OLED, and a 108 MP camera. The HTC U24 Pro was spotted on the Google Play Console earlier this year.

The listing revealed that the HTC U24 Pro will sport a display with a resolution of 1080 x 2436, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, and up to 12 GB of RAM. For the uninitiated, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 is the latest mid-range chipset from Qualcomm.

So, HTC is not really entering the flagship market again but rather continuing the mid-range lineup. Currently, HTC phones are only available in a few countries like the USA, Canada, and parts of Europe. With this upcoming launch, expect the company to expand its availablity to more countries including Taiwan.

Unfortunately, the chances of HTC making a comeback in India are very slim. The competition in India is fierce, and given how the company has priced its smartphones in the past, we don’t think they can compete well with the existing players.

Nevertheless, HTC is a legacy brand and unlike LG, which gave up on the smartphone market, HTC is still pushing forward. They have a strong history in the smartphone industry and were one of the pioneers of Android technology. The first Android phone, the HTC Dream (also known as the T-Mobile G1), launched in 2008 and set the stage for the Android ecosystem we have today.

HTC also played a key role in working with Google on the Nexus series, which showcased pure Android experiences and influenced smartphone design and functionality. The upcoming HTC U24 Pro launch shows that HTC is still in the game, aiming to make its mark in the competitive market.
