Apple has introduced the AirPods 5, bringing a major upgrade to its regular open-ear earbuds. The new generation gets stronger Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), improved sound, Siri AI integration and Live Translation. More importantly, ANC is now standard across both AirPods 5 models.

Stronger ANC and improved sound
Apple claims the AirPods 5 can remove up to 50 percent more external noise compared to the AirPods 4 with ANC. This has been achieved through a new multiport acoustic architecture and improved computational audio algorithms.
The earbuds also feature a newer version of Adaptive EQ, which adjusts the sound depending on the user’s ears and fit. Apple says this should deliver richer and more detailed audio while also improving the Personalized Spatial Audio experience. Adaptive Audio, Transparency mode and Conversation Awareness are also supported.

Siri AI and Live Translation arrive
AirPods 5 also lean heavily into Apple’s growing AI ecosystem. When connected to a compatible iPhone, users can access the new Siri AI hands-free to find information from messages, emails and other personal context.
Apple is also bringing Live Translation, allowing conversations in supported languages to be translated through the AirPods. Users can continue responding to Siri prompts by nodding or shaking their head.
Two AirPods 5 models
The higher-end AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case also introduces swipe-based volume controls on the stem, a first for Apple’s open-ear AirPods. It offers up to five hours of listening with ANC enabled and up to 22 hours with the charging case. The case supports USB-C, Qi wireless chargers and Apple Watch chargers.
AirPods 5 India price and availability
AirPods 5 are priced at ₹14,900 in India, while the version with the Wireless Charging Case costs ₹17,900. For comparison, AirPods 4 started at ₹12,900, while the ANC version cost ₹17,900.

Pre-orders are already open, with sales beginning on September 18. In the US, prices start at $129, while the Wireless Charging Case model costs $149 – $30 less than the previous-generation equivalent.
