Apple talked about faster charging for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max during its launch event, with both phones now able to reach 50% in around 15 minutes. That’s five minutes faster than the iPhone 17 Pro, which Apple rated at 50% in around 20 minutes.
There’s another detail that Apple didn’t focus on during the presentation. The company’s technical specifications reveal that the iPhone 18 Pro models require a 60W-capable USB-C power adapter for their fastest wired charging speeds.
iPhone 18 Pro Now Charges at 60W
According to Apple’s technical specifications, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max can reach 50% charge in around 15 minutes when paired with a 60W-capable adapter or higher, a USB-C cable, and a power adapter supporting USB Power Delivery 3.1 or later with AVS.
Apple’s testing was carried out using its 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max, along with a 60W-capable USB-C cable. This means the 60W figure refers to the charging capability required for the fastest charging, rather than Apple selling a 60W iPhone charger.

For comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro was rated to reach 50% in around 20 minutes under Apple’s previous fast-charging conditions. The iPhone 18 Pro models therefore shave roughly five minutes off that figure.
The faster charging also comes alongside a redesigned thermal system inside the iPhone 18 Pro models. Apple has increased the size of the vapor chamber by 3 times, which should help the phones handle higher sustained power and heat levels during demanding workloads.
