Google has taken the veil off the long-awaited Pixel Buds A, a mid-range sibling to the 2nd-gen Buds. Although the A-modifier suggests a cut-down in configuration, which is there for sure, the new buds feature the same sound, mic quality, and few key improvements over the predecessor. Let’s find out what these are.

Google Pixel Buds A

Design-wise, you are getting the same mentos-like form factor and concha wings. There is still a white color variant, but with hints of gray towards the ear-facing side. There is a Dark Olive model, also with a similar dual-tone finish. Google says to have studied thousands of ears to make a gentle seal on the Pixel Buds A. Moreover, a spatial vent has been incorporated to reduce the in-ear pressure. Both these design choices should endow a comfortable fit.

Coming to what matters most, the sound, as mentioned already, the new buds share the similar “premium” quality and characteristics. It is equipped with a custom 12 mm dynamic speaker. This is aided by Adaptive Sound which raises or lowers the volume based on your ambiance. As for calls, Google is employing beamforming mics to concentrate on your voice and alleviate outside noise.

Next, up a big improvement over the former is in the connectivity. To fix the notorious audio drops, Google has armed the Pixel Buds A with “strong individual transmission power”. In other words, both earbuds in the new model connect to the main device playing audio.

Well you can listen up to five hours on a single charge from the buds, and this could extend up to 24 hours if you use the charging case. And when it seeks charge, plug it in for about 15 minutes in the case and you would get up to three hours of listening time.
