Google is working on a new strategy to bring Pixel 4a successor to India aiming to cover a wider market, says a new report. It also explains the intentions of Google to expand its inventory units and develop Pixel manufacturing sites in India.

In an interview with ET, a senior Google executive said, “Google doubled inventory for Pixel for India last year and this year the intention is to further increase the focus and get a larger share from global inventory for the India market.”

Google had launched Pixel 4a (review) last year at an aggressive price of INR 31,999 and the company claims that it provided them good results in terms of sales. Following the trends of competitive brands like Apple and OnePlus, the American search giant is looking forward to presenting its upcoming smartphones within a bracket of INR 30,000 to INR 40,000.

Last year, the company had unveiled the 5G version of Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a in the US but skipped the Indian market. Now, the executive gives a reason that 5G services in India are still behind and the 5G hardware configuration ultimately increases the prices. He further said, “Why do we want an expensive phone when Indians can’t use 5G. Because of hardware cost, 5G variants weren’t launched in India.”

It could soon launch mobile phones in different price segments though no official announcement is yet made. Also, if the company finds its way for Pixel production in India, the devices will cater to both domestic and export needs.
