Google I/O 2023: Google Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet & Pixel Fold go official

Google has hosted its annual developer’s conference, where the company showcases new Android OS and other developments today. The Google I/O 2023 is extra special because the brand has shown off its first-ever foldable smartphone- Pixel Fold along with Pixel Tablet. The event has also seen the launch of the 3rd member of the Pixel 7 Series- Pixel 7a which is coming to India as well tomorrow.

Apart from hardware, Google has also talked about Android 14, upcoming innovations in AI, and its generative AI chatbot Bard. The conference began with a special keynote by CEO Sundar Pichai followed by developers’ keynote and other major announcements.

The Google I/O 2023 took place physically, but for those who could not attend, the event was live on YouTube. It was a lengthy affair as Google had a host of products and services to talk about. Let us dive in and see what all Google has come up with.

Google Pixel 7a

The 3rd member of the Pixel 7 Series, the mid-ranger Google Pixel 7a smartphone sports a 6.1-inch, 449 PPI, AMOLED panel with a 1080×2400 pixel resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla glass Victus and the foldable is water resistant. It is powered by a Tensor G2 chipset with an octa-core CPU paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The smartphone runs Android 13 OS.

The Pixel 7a sports a dual camera setup with a 64MP primary and a 12MP ultrawide lens. There is a 10.2MP selfie camera at the front. The camera comes with Google’s signature software features, including Night Sight, HDR+, and Portrait Mode.

It packs a 4400mAh battery under the hood with 20W wired fast charging support. The Pixel 7a has an on-screen fingerprint sensor and comes with a USB Type-C port for charging. Connectivity options include WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and USB Type-C port.

Pixel 7a is available for order today for 499 USD.

Google Pixel Fold

The first foldable smartphone from Google, Pixel Fold features a 5.8-inch FHD+ OLED outer display and a 7.6-inch OLED interior panel, both with 120Hz refresh rates. The foldable has a triple camera setup at the back with a 48MP primary, 10.8MP ultrawide, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens. At the front is a 9.5MP outer and 8MP inner camera. This one too is powered by a Tensor G2 chipset just like Pixel 7a.

Pixel Fold comes with up to 12GB RAM and up to 512GB storage and runs Android 13 OS out of the box. It sports a 4700mAh battery under the hood. It comes with dual-screen interpreter mode, tabletop mode, and support for switching the rear camera to the outer display. Pre-orders have been opened today for 1799 USD and it will be available next month.  Moreover, Pixel Watch will come free with Pixel Fold when pre-ordered today.

Google Pixel Tablet

Google Pixel Tablet features a 10.9-inch display panel with a high refresh rate. It is powered by a Tensor G2 chipset paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. It runs Android 13 OS out of the box. It runs Android 13 OS out of the box. There is an 8MP front camera along with 3 microphones, a fingerprint sensor, and a large battery life.

The Tablet comes with Google’s special features like a Magic eraser, photo unblur, pixel speech, and more. Pixel Tablet comes with a charging speaker dock that not only charges the tablet but also gives a platform to place the tablet to view content. There is a  redesigned google home app and chrome cast built-in as well. Pixel Tablet is available for order today for 499 USD and the speaker charging dock comes bundled for free. The tablet will be available in 3 colors.
