Multi-national tech firm, Google is reportedly working on a new mid-range Pixel phone that will be exclusively targeted at the price-sensitive markets like India. The phone is going to be a trimmed down version of Pixel 2 (Review) and is expected to launch sometime in July or August. If that’s the case, it will be competing against the likes of Mi, Huawei OnePlus and Samsung devices.

The reports came from leading Indian daily, Economics Times, which states that “the California-based Alphabet, the parent company of Google, will launch its smart speakers, premium laptop Pixelbook, and intelligent home automation products, and is even planning a mid-range smartphone especially for markets such as India.”

The source further revealed that the Google will also expand its retail footprint in the region to help it compete with Apple, Microsoft, and Samsung. And, it will price its Google Home and Google Home Mini smart speakers at Rs 9,999 and Rs 4,499, respectively in India.
