Google has been all over the news lately for its Pixel 6 series and the Tensor SoC preview. But, there were reports that the company is releasing the phones in selected markets only which was kind of a bummer. Anyways, now according to a fresh report, we might also get to see the launch of Google Pixel 5a soon.
The news is based on a leak by Jon Prosser on his FrontPageTech¹ website. He has shared a few details surrounding the oncoming Pixel mid-ranger. Let’s take a look —
Google Pixel 5a Price, Launch Date, and Availability
As per Prosser’s sources, the Pixel 5a would be listed at a retail price of $450 USD (~ Rs. 33,334). Google has already confirmed that due to the chip shortage crisis, it will be releasing Pixel 5a 5G in the US and Japan market only. In a statement, Google had said the phone will be launched in the said two markets at around the same time when last year’s a-series phone was introduced.
Now, the new leak claims the phone would hit online and offline Google Stores starting August 26.
Before we move on, note that Google had been talking specifically about the Pixel 5a model. So, that doesn’t discount the chances of a Pixel 5a 4G edition like the previous year, which could make its way to markets like India. Maybe.

Google Pixel 5a Specs (expected)
Prosser suggests the Pixel 5a would come with the same camera and processor as last year’s Pixel 5. That is you could expect 5a to feature a Snapdragon 765G at the heart, and a 12.2 primary rear camera. Now, we are not sure, if this phone will be borrowing the ultrawide as well as selfie shooter from the regular Pixel 5.
The internals could also include 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and a 4650mAh battery. An 18W charger is likely. There will be no wireless charging support though.

Coming to the front, the Pixel 5a is said to sport a 6.4-inch screen with a forced 90Hz refresh rate. Other highlights in the mix are IP67 water and dust resistance, the presence of a headphone jack, and the device’s Mostly Black color.
