Galaxy S26 Base Model Tipped to Get 45W Charging After Years at 25W

Samsung’s next flagship lineup may bring a long-requested change to the standard model. According to a new leak shared on X, the base Samsung Galaxy S26 could support 45W wired fast charging, almost doubling the 25W limit that has persisted on recent non-Plus Galaxy S phones.

The information comes from tipster Ahmed Qwaider, who posted the claim on X. If accurate, this would put the vanilla Galaxy S26 on par with the Galaxy S26+, which is already expected to retain 45W charging. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is still tipped for a further increase to 60W, up from 45W on the S25 Ultra.

Earlier rumors had suggested that Samsung would once again keep the base model at 25W, so this report marks a shift from previous expectations. Some reports also link the charging bump with a possible battery capacity increase for the base S26, from 4,000 mAh on the Galaxy S25 to around 4,300 mAh, though that detail remains unconfirmed.

The Galaxy S26 series is currently expected to debut at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, 2026, with availability following in early March. Chipset splits were also leaked, with the S26 and S26+ using Exynos 2600 in some markets, while the Ultra may rely solely on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

As with most pre-launch details, the charging upgrade should be treated cautiously until Samsung makes it official. Still, if the leak holds, it would be the first meaningful wired charging upgrade for the base Galaxy S model in several years.
