TL; DR
- Volkswagen has revealed the Virtus facelift’s exterior, shown on the GT variant.
- Changes: new bumper, smaller fog lamp housings, and black alloys; headlamps look unchanged.
- The cabin, features, and prices are not announced; reports point to a December launch.
Midlife facelifts, in my opinion, are the car industry’s version of a fresh haircut. It’s the same car (or the same person), but with sharper looks and a confident demeanor. A midsize sedan I know and have driven for around a couple thousand kilometers just got the same treatment.
I’m talking about the 2026 Volkswagen Virtus. Here’s what changed, what the automaker left alone, and everything else that you need to know about the car.

What Has Volkswagen Changed on the Virtus Facelift’s Exterior?
Contrary to rumors, this is an official announcement, so you can pretty much bank on it for making a decision. The company unveiled the Volkswagen facelift’s exterior on November 5, 2026. It was a day after the official teaser video surfaced. While there’s no word on the official launch yet, some rumors suggest the car could arrive in December 2026.
It’s important to mention here that the images show the top-spec GT. So, treat everything below as GT-specific for now.

Up front, the sedan gets a new, sleeker, sharper bumper with a diamond-shaped mesh at the bottom, smaller fog lamp housings, an illuminated VW logo, horizontal grilles, and headlamps at the far edges to increase the perception of width.
The headlamps themselves look unchanged, which tells me this is a refresh, not a redesign.

| Grille | Illuminated VW logo, GT badge | GT variant shown |
| Wheels | New black alloys, red front calipers | 16-inch per one report |
| Paint | New blue, black roof, mirrors and boot lip spoiler | Dual-tone finish |

In profile, the GT gets blacked-out alloys, reportedly 16-inch, with red disk-brake front calipers, red GT badges all around the car, and a new dual-tone blue shade with a black roof and mirrors. Camera pods on the mirrors and bumper hint at 360-degree cameras. However, that is something Volkswagen has not confirmed (yet).
At the back, the lower bumper is also revised.

What Should You Expect Inside and Under the Hood?
Volkswagen says it will share cabin and feature details in the coming days. However, if you were to ask me, I’d expect Taigun-style updates, including a 10.25-inch digital cluster and a refreshed 10.1-inch screen with an AI voice assistant (I really don’t understand who is using them).

Interestingly, the company also mentions a revised air conditioner compressor, which is quite important for Volkswagen and Skoda buyers who have already faced AC-related issues in the past.

The 115hp 1.0-liter TSI is also expected to swap its 6-speed automatic for an 8-speed unit (similar to the latest Slavia), while the manual and the 150hp 1.5-liter DSG should continue.
Today, the Virtus costs around ₹10.71 lakh to ₹19.20 lakh ex-showroom. However, with the facelift, the company could hike prices by around ₹10,000 to ₹20,000, or even more on higher trims, depending on the feature additions.
