A couple of months ago, we didn’t know much about the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event, except that Samsung intends to launch the next generation of foldable devices. Now, we have a fair idea of everything enthusiasts should expect from the event.

Earlier today, we reported about the newly leaked date for the Galaxy Unpacked event that will be held in Paris and the devices that the company could launch at the event. Per the latest information, the Galaxy Buds 3 could also join the party on July 10, 2024. However, it might have a different aesthetic than the previous TWS earbuds.

Redesigned Galaxy Buds To Look Like AirPods

According to a report by the outlet The Chosun, Samsung is about to change the design of its TWS earbuds, the Galaxy Buds. The next iteration in the lineup, i.e., the Galaxy Buds 3, could come with a stem, much like what we’ve seen on the current-generation AirPods Pro.

“The current kidney bean-like shape of the earbuds will be modified to include a stem, making them resemble bean sprouts like AirPods,” the report mentions. If Samsung indeed changes the design of the purported Buds 3, it will be the first time in five years that Samsung redesigns its TWS earbuds.

Earlier today, we exclusively leaked the 5K renders of the Galaxy Watch7 Ultra. The smartwatch, along with the most-awaited Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Z Flip 6, will debut at the Galaxy Unpacked launch event, reportedly scheduled on July 10, 2024. At the event, Samsung could also unveil two iterations of the Galaxy Buds 3: a regular model and a more expensive and feature-rich Pro model.

Samsung Aims To Address The Audio Reception Issue With A New Design

The redesign, per the report, aims to improve the sound quality and the device’s overall performance. In the process, Samsung also wants the Galaxy Buds 3 to appeal to a larger audience for the commercial success of the device. Further, the company also intends to remedy the audio reception issue faced by the Galaxy Buds 2 and Buds 2 Pro users.

For those wondering about the issue in the earbuds’ performance, the higher positioning of the microphone on the Galaxy Buds 2 and Buds 2 Pro results in poor audio reception during voice calls. Conversely, earbuds with longer stems, like AirPods, place the microphone relatively closer to the user’s mouth, picking up what the user says more clearly. Hence, the redesign to a bean sprouts-like design aims to provide better audio reception.

The stem would also increase the usable size inside the earbuds, which could help the company improve the battery life and include a slightly bigger processor. With these enhancements, customers should also expect a minor rise in the device’s price. Would you purchase a Galaxy Buds TWS that looks like AirPods?
