Ubisoft is all set to launch the next iteration of its popular first-person shooter game – Far Cry 6. It is the sixth installment in the series and is expected to release on 7 October 2021 on various platforms like Amazon Luna, PlayStation 4, Xbox, PlayStation, Microsoft Windows, and Stadia.

Recently Ubisoft’s Lead Programmer, Stephanie Brenham revealed that although Far Cry 6 is releasing on all gaming platforms, some of its features won’t be available on Gaming Consoles like Xbox. These features will exclusively be featured in the PC version of Far Cry 6. Ray Tracing is one of those features.

Ubisoft Says

“Ray tracing is a PC-only feature. On Console our objective has been to take advantage of new hardware capabilities, optimizing performance targeting 4K and achieving 60Fps, for instance, all while ensuring new game features, like our dynamic weather system, are supported on all platforms,” said Stephanie Brenham.

She further added, “We chose hybrid ray-traced reflections because it has the best quality-to-performance balance and allows us to support DXR even on mid-range hardware. This way more players can enjoy ray tracing in scenarios where it is impossible to use SSLR due to technology limitations.”

However, the company has claimed that the game will continue to be visually impressive in both PC and Console versions and will come up with certain new features in this new version.

Far Cry 6 is heading for a Caribbean Vacation in the fictional country of Yara (where things are already chaotic) this time. The trailer of Far Cry 6 which was unveiled in 2020, showed certain new additions this time. These include holstering your gun, enemy soldiers not attacking you if your weapon is holstered, riding horses, and having photos of in-game missions to help you track your mission location.
