Following its second significant midlife update in September 2023, the Tata Nexon has recently been unveiled in a striking Dark edition. However, it’s not alone in the sub-4m SUV segment in India to receive the all-black treatment. In August 2023, the Hyundai Venue debuted its ‘Knight Edition,’ showcasing the SUV’s sleek all-black variant. Tata Nexon Dark vs Hyundai Venue: Design
The Nexon Dark, built on the SUV’s facelifted model, showcases a split-LED headlight setup and features black-treated chrome embellishments on the bumper. Additionally, the silver skid plate has been transformed to black, enhancing its overall aesthetic. Similarly, the Venue’s front fascia highlights a dark black finish on the grille and the ‘Hyundai’ logo. Notably, it boasts smoked-effect headlights, brass inserts in the bumper, and a black skid plate, contributing to its distinctive appearance.
Tata SUV exhibits 16-inch black alloy wheels, alongside blacked-out ORVM housings and ‘#Dark’ badges positioned on the front fenders. In the rear view, the Nexon Dark presents a unified black finish with the ‘Nexon’ moniker and bumper adorned in the same shade, accentuating its modern aesthetic. Meanwhile, Hyundai’s Venue Knight Edition echoes this theme with a blacked-out logo and ‘Venue’ badge, accompanied by the distinctive ‘Knight’ emblem. Both SUVs feature an all-black cabin theme that perfectly complements the essence of their special editions. The Nexon boasts black leatherette upholstery adorned with the carmaker’s signature tri-arrow pattern, along with ‘Dark’ branding embellishing the headrests. On the other hand, the Venue Knight Edition showcases brass-colored inserts throughout the cabin, enhancing the black seat upholstery with stylish brass accents. To elevate the interior ambiance with a sportier and premium touch, the Venue incorporates metal-finished pedals and 3D designer mats.

Tata has equipped the Nexon Dark with a comprehensive range of features similar to the standard model. It includes dual 10.25-inch screens—one for infotainment and the other for driver information. Additionally, the Nexon Dark offers amenities such as a sunroof, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging. Safety features are also robust, comprising six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Similarly, the Venue boasts a plethora of amenities, including an 8-inch touchscreen, a sunroof, wireless phone charging, and an auto-dimming IRVM. Additionally, it comes with a dual-camera dashcam for added convenience. Safety features are comprehensive as well, featuring six airbags, a reversing camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
Tata Nexon Dark vs Hyundai Venue: Powertrain
The Nexon Dark offers versatile powertrain options, including a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 115 PS and 260 Nm of torque. Both engine choices are available with 6-speed manual transmission (MT) and automated manual transmission (AMT), while the turbo-petrol variant also offers a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) option.
Meanwhile, the Venue Knight Edition provides a choice between the existing 1.2-liter petrol engine with 83 PS and 114 Nm of torque, and the 1-liter turbo-petrol engine delivering 120 PS and 172 Nm of torque. The former is paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission, while the latter offers the flexibility of a 6-speed intelligent manual transmission (iMT) or a 7-speed DCT.
