Following a series of spy images and widespread speculations, Aprilia has officially unveiled its highly anticipated RS 457 supersport motorcycle. This sleek and powerful two-wheeler was meticulously crafted and engineered in Italy at Aprilia’s headquarters. However, the production of the RS 457 will be expertly handled at Piaggio’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Baramati, Maharashtra, India. Set to hit the international market as well as cater to Indian enthusiasts, the RS 457 will be available in three eye-catching liveries.

Aprilia RS 457 Powertrain and Features

The RS 457 takes clear design cues from its larger sibling, the RS 660, exhibiting a bold and aggressive aesthetic characterized by its distinctive three-pot LED headlamp and other defining features. Notably, its sporty appearance is further accentuated by decals inspired by the striking liveries adorned by Aprilia’s championship-winning motorcycles.

The RS 457 embodies the true essence of a supersport machine, featuring a sport-oriented riding posture that strikes an ideal balance between commitment and comfort. Underpinning its performance is a meticulously crafted perimeter frame complemented by a bolt-on subframe.

Underneath, the superbike is powered by a substantial 457 parallel-twin engine, equipped with a 270-degree crank and DOHC head construction. The motorcycle engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 47 bhp and weighs around 175 kg, which is quite impressive for a sports bike.

Regarding its electronics suite, the RS 457 boasts an array of features, including three distinct riding modes, switchable traction control with three selectable levels, optional dual-channel ABS, and the availability of a quick-shifter. Adding a touch of modernity, the motorcycle incorporates a vibrant 5-inch color TFT display for its instrumentation, while the switchgear controls are thoughtfully backlit for user-friendly operation.

At the front, the RS 457 is equipped with a 41mm USD fork with a travel of 120mm, and the rear end gets a monoshock with 130mm of travel. It’s worth noting that both suspensions are manually adjustable, allowing riders to customize the preload at their convenience. Bybre 4-piston radial calipers are responsible for the brakes at both ends, with 320mm and 220mm disc plates at the front and back, respectively. This bike rides on 17-inch wheels equipped with 110/70 tires at the front and 150/60 tires at the rear.

Aprilia RS 457 Is It Coming To India?

Indian customers are in for a treat because the RS 457 is set to be manufactured in India, indicating that the company intends to launch the bike in the Indian market. In terms of competition, the RS 457 is poised to enter the arena against formidable rivals such as the KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and the forthcoming Yamaha YZF-R3.
