Apple unwraps iPhone SE: A Compact Yet Premium iPhone

With every event invite roll out Apple certainly sores temperature in tech circles, and speculations and rumors start flooding in soonafter. This time, rumor mill managed to hit bulls eyes as far as iPhone SE is concerned. In a surprising move, the Cupertino giant sidetracked from its ‘bigger-is-better’ iPhone course to introduce a much-improved version of compact iPhone 5s. The new iPhone will hit the Indian stores in April with a starting price tag of Rs. 39,000.

The new iPhone houses a 4-inch Retina Display and comes in two storage variants – 16GB and 64GB. From the exterior, it resembles 2013’ iPhone 5s. It has a similar metal body, same camera lens and Touch ID fingerprint scanner to secure the device. Apple claims that the iPhone SE has two times better processing power and is 4 times improved graphics performance in comparison iPhone 5s with better battery life.

However, most of the innards are similar to iPhone 6s. At the heart of it features an Apples A9 processor with M9 motion co-processor, NFC chip with support for Apple pay, improved 12-megapixel iSight camera at the back with 4K video and live photos support.  At the front, it flaunts a 1.2-megapixel FaceTime camera with Ratina Flash. iPhone SE supports new Wi-Fi bands, LTE bands  VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2 for better connectivity for global totters. It runs on iOS 9.3 and like iPhone 6s, it will be available in black, gold, white and rose gold color options.

Tim Cook and his team also introduced a couple of new accessories – leather cases and Lighting Docks. Designed by Apple designers, the leather cases will be offered in black and midnight blue colors for Rs. 2,900. Whereas, Lighting Docks are priced at Rs. 3,700 and will be available in color-matched metallic finish.
