Apple had more than the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max to announce at its “Surprise and Shine” event. Shortly after the new Pro models were unveiled, the company quietly increased the prices of every other iPhone that remains in its lineup. The iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air are now more expensive despite receiving no hardware changes.
India Pricing
The iPhone 17 now starts at ₹99,900 for 256GB, up from ₹82,900. The 512GB version has gone from ₹1,02,900 to ₹1,24,900.
The iPhone Air has seen the biggest increase. Its 256GB model now costs ₹1,49,900, compared with ₹1,19,900 previously. The 512GB version is priced at ₹1,74,900, while the 1TB model costs ₹2,24,900.
The iPhone 17e has moved from ₹64,900 to ₹79,900 for 256GB, while the 512GB model now costs ₹1,04,900. The iPhone 16 also gets a ₹20,000 increase, taking its base price from ₹69,900 to ₹89,900 for 128GB storage.
Apple’s new iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are no longer available now that the new Pro models have arrived.

US Pricing
The US has seen a simpler $100 increase across the lineup. The iPhone 16 now starts at $799, up from $699, while the iPhone 17e has moved from $599 to $699.
The iPhone 17 is now priced at $899, compared with $799 previously. The iPhone Air has gone from $999 to $1,099, pushing its starting price above the $1,000 mark.
The iPhone 16 Plus has also disappeared from Apple’s US store lineup. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max have been discontinued following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro series.

Why Did Apple Raise the Prices?
Apple has pointed to the rising cost of memory and storage components. Tim Cook had already warned about these costs in June, saying Apple was facing higher component expenses that were becoming difficult to absorb. Memory demand has also been driven heavily by AI infrastructure and data centres, putting additional pressure on component prices.
Apple had already increased Mac and iPad prices by around 23% on average in June while leaving the iPhone lineup untouched at the time. The iPhone price increases have now arrived alongside the iPhone 18 Pro launch.

For buyers, that makes the remaining pre-hike inventory particularly worth checking. Retailers such as Amazon, Flipkart, Croma and Reliance Digital may still have older stock at previous prices, although that inventory is likely to disappear quickly.
