Android O Could be Named Oatmeal Cookie Instead Of Oreo

Every year Google name their next version of Android after some sort of desert. This year too, it has managed to keep or excitement high as it is maintained a tight lip about what could be the name of Android 0 which was announced at Google I/O 2017. Well, we don’t expect Google to reveal the name before the launch of Google Pixel 2 smartphones. So far, many believe that the search engine giant could name its Android 8 after famous cookie ‘Oreo’. However, Android O Developer Preview 3 source code hints at something else.

Apparently, upon analyzing the source code of new developer build, it has been revealed that the upcoming version of the Android could be named Android Oatmeal Cookie. A number of references to ‘oc-dev’ were spotted in preview 3 source code. Another source code resource clearly showed it would be the oatmeal cookie. That’s not all, the oatmeal cookie was also spotted in the number of presentation slides during Google I/O this year.

While a lot of people are hoping that Google names Android O as “Oreo” but chances are getting slim more so after this revelation. It will only seem possible now if Google and Oreo makers strike a deal of some sort for the cross-promotion of Oreos and Android. The only time something like that happened was when Google and KitKat came together and named it Android 4.0 Kitkat.

Google is expected to introduce lot many new features in the upcoming version Android O.It is said to enhance user experience. Most anticipated features of the Android O is picture-in-picture mode which will let users enjoy video even while performing other tasks. Apart from this other important new features will be a fluid experience, notification dots, project treble, auto-fill, vital and lot more.
