Xiaomi has a worthy competitor to its low-cost desh ka smartphone aka Redmi 5A (FAQs). 10.or (Tenor), a nascent brand in the Indian market, has launched its entry-level smartphone 10.or D. Just like its elder siblings – 10.or G and 10.or E, the handset will also be Amazon exclusive and retails at an aggressive starting price of Rs. 4,999.
Both handsets, despite coming from different background, are awfully close in terms of specification and features. So, which one is the better choice between the two? Let’s discuss in our detailed comparison.

Design and Display
The design of both Redmi 5A and 10.or D screams only one thing – a plastic yet sturdy body with a metal-finish.
The 10.or D fascia comes with 5.2-inch HD IPS display with beefy borders. On the flip side, it has a rear-camera, loudspeaker and center aligned fingerprint sensor. All in all, the phone looks compact, easy to manage and has all its physical buttons right within reach.

In comparison, Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A is a tad thinner and smaller phone. It has a 5-inch HD IPS 16:9 display, with smooth curved edges and 2.5D glass, up front. The rear end of the phone is ‘almost’ a clean slate. There is a top-corner aligned rear-camera and speakers placed at the bottom.
Out of the two, the Redmi 5A certainly looks and feels more premium.
Processor and Software
In terms of hardware, there isn’t much to choose between the two. Both phones are powered by the same chipset – Snapdragon 425 mated with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB storage. They both have a dedicated microSD card slot to expand the phone’s storage further. The processors on both 10.or D and Redmi 5A are good enough to handle most of the day-to-day task with ease.
On the software front, both smartphones have a different story to tell. While Redmi 5A comes running on MIUI 9 based Android Nougat, 10.or D has pure Android Noiugat experience.
Our picking here will be 10.or D because of its simple and lightweight ROM. However, the added nifty features on Xiaomi’s latest MIUI 9 doesn’t leave Redmi 5A far behind.
Camera and Battery
In optics, both Redmi 5A and 10.or D sports 13MP rear sensor with LED flash and 5MP front sensor. Although we are yet to test the camera of 10.or D in various lighting condition, we expect both phones to deliver workable shots in good lighting condition. It wouldn’t be wise to expect much in terms of camera performance from either of the two devices.

As for the battery, 10.or D houses a 3,500mAh battery which is clearly bigger than Redmi 5A’s non-removable 3000mAh battery. You can expect the Redmi 5A battery to last longer.
Verdict
Well, both phones have their strengths and weaknesses. While 10.or D offers bigger battery, stock-android experience and most-importantly a fingerprint sensor; Redmi 5A offers a premium design, better display and brand assurance.
Who should buy the 10.or D?
If you are on a tight budget, but still want a phone with a fingerprint sensor, 10.or D should be your best bet. The pure and light Android software also assures of durable performance in the long run.
Who should buy Redmi 5A?
Redmi 5A simply looks and feels better of the two devices. That’s important because of design is something you can’t underestimate on phones these days. It’s a more expensive than the 10.or D and is missing the fingerprint sensor, but isn’t far behind in terms of overall experience. Those looking for a familiar branded would certainly be partial to it.
