Meizu has introduced its new flagship ‘Pro’ series with the Meizu Pro 5. The Pro 5 on papers appears to be quite promising. Therefore, we decided to review the specification of Meizu Pro 5 to let our readers know what they should expect from this phone.
For the first time a Samsung Exynos chipset has landed in a non-Samsung phone with Mezu Pro 5. The Pro 5 larks on octa-core Exynos 7420 SoC (same chip as in Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge), 3 GB & 4 GB of RAM option and Mali T760MP8 GPU. Exyono 7420 is best thing that happened on SoC front last year and its presence under the hood of Pro 5 will definitely serve it well. This octa-core processor is based on Big.LITTLE configuration with 4x Cortex A57 clocked at 2.1GHz and remaining four Cortex A53 ramped up at 1.5GHz. With such classy hardware, we expect phone will be able to handle heavy graphical games with ease.
Meizu strengthens it love affair with Samsung by also using its AMOLED screens in Meizu Pro 5. Like pervious flagship phone MX4, the Meizu Pro5 flaunts a stunning 5.7-inch full HD S-AMOLED panel. The display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect it against uninvited scratches. Since Samsung’s AMOLED is one of the best display on the circuit today, Meizu Pro 5 in most likeliness will offer excellent brightness, high contrast levels and saturated colors.
In other Meizu Pro 5 specifications, the phone comes in two storage 32GB or 64GB variants. Pro 5 uses a hybrid SIM kit in this phone, which essentially means that you will have to choose between microSD card and a second SIM card.
On the photography end, the Meizu tried to take the advantage of new Sony IMX230 sensor in the primary camera module. Motorola in Moto X Style and Moto X Play uses the same imagery sensor. Camera flags a 21.6 MP tag with f/2.0 aperture lens alongside laser & phase detection auto-focus, and Samsung’s own image signal processor. Once again, on paper it sound promising but we will not get carried away with all these specs until we get our hands on the device. 5MP f/2.0 secondary camera should a delight for selfie fanciers.
This top of the line Meizu phone draws power from its 3050mAh battery, which should last good 24 hours on a single charge with moderate usage. Meizu runs on Andriod 5.1 Lollipop-based on Meizu Flame OS 5.0. The phone manufacturer has adopted USB ‘Type - C’ connector to ensure that it is future ready. The Meizu Pro5 is available in gold, grey, silver and silver & black colour with 3GB/32GB or 4GB/64GB variants in China.
The Chinese smartphone maker hasn’t made Meizu Pro 5 available in India as of now. However, we expect the company will take the flash sale route for selling Meizu Pro 5 in India, expectedly for 29,900 INR (3GB RAM + 32GB storage version) and 32,000 INR (4GB RAM+ 64GB version). You can check back here for the Meizu Pro 5 lowest online price once the device hits retail shelves in India.
