Xiaomi VP Confirms Mi5 launch date: details and other specifications also emerges online

Xiaomi Vice President and co-founder Liwan Jiang, has now once again hinted that the upcoming flagship smartphone Mi5 will be launched at the end of the 15-day long Chinese spring festival which commence on February 8. However, this time, he went a step ahead and disclosed that Mi5 will go on sale one week post its official launch.

According to insiders, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is currently under mass production to ensure Company has enough devices to offer once it is made public. Mi 5 is one of the most awaited smartphone from Xiaomi as a company has a lot riding on it. Couple of months back, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun stated that the Mi5 is ‘worth the wait’ and it is ‘very – very good phone.’

As per online leaks, the Xiaomi Mi5 is all set to pack-in a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, Adreno 530 GPU and 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. It is supposed to flaunt a 5.2-inch display with a QHD resolution (2560x1440pixels) and 2.5D glass. As we earlier pointed out, rumors have it that the company is planning to bring it in two different variants. One of them will feature 3GB of RAM with 32GB storage while the premium version will get 4GB of RAM with 64GB storage to rock and roll.

Other than this, Mi5 will feature a metal clad exterior, fingerprint sensor, USB type and NFC as connectivity options. In all probability, it will feature a 3600mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. The handset is said to run MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
