Xiaomi Redmi 5 Launched In India: Price, Specification and Features

Following the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 5 in India. The successor of Redmi 4 is a compact phone will be competing with the likes of InFocus Vision 5 and the Infinix Hot S3. The Redmi 5 was first introduced in China back in 2017.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5 comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. Though, Xiaomi claims the Redmi 5 is made of metal but actually it has thick plastic caps on both top and bottom of the rear panel.

The Redmi 5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset which is based on the 14nm manufacturing process. Xiaomi is offering the Redmi 5 in three configurations: 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage respectively. The Redmi 4 successor will be running MIUI 9 out-of-the-box.

For shutterbugs, the Redmi 5 comes with a 12MP rear camera with 1.25nm pixel size and a 5MP selfie camera with selfie flash. The phone packs a decent 3300mAh capacity battery. Xiaomi has included a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel. The Redmi 5 comes with IR blaster, hybrid dual SIM slots with 4G VoLTE support.

The Redmi 5 start from Rs 7,999 for 2GB variant. Xiaomi has priced 3GB RAM version of Redmi 5 at Rs 8,999 whereas 4GB variant will retail for Rs 10,999. It will be offered in Late Blue, Elegant Rose Gold, Black and Gold hues. The Redmi 5 will be available on Mi.com, Mi Home, Amazon and Offline store. Jio is offering the instant Cashback of Rs 2,200 (basically 44 vouchers of Rs 50 each) & Additional 100GB Data. If you buy the Redmi Note 5 from Mi.com an SBI user will get a 5-percent instant discount.
