Foldable smartphones are slowly but steadily becoming a way of life. With more and more leading brands like OnePlus, Oppo, and Motorola launching foldables, Samsung is one such brand that is a leader in terms of foldable devices as it has a few generations of fold and flip phones under its belt. The brand launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 in 2023 which came with improvements in terms of hardware as well as features.
The biggest downside of foldable smartphones is that their market remains limited due to high price points. Not everyone can afford foldable devices as they cost around 1 lakh or even more. Yesterday we reported about how, to make foldables more affordable, Samsung is reportedly planning an entry-level foldable that will launch alongside this year’s fold and flip lineup.
In the past as well, there have been reports about the brand working on an affordable foldable, but these rumors have never materialized. In November 2023, reports claimed that a mid-ranger foldable was being worked upon, but then Samsung shot down the speculation about mid-range cost, though not denying an affordable foldable.
Now, once again speculations are rife that Samsung will launch an entry-level version of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 device later this year. In this write-up, we will talk about what you can expect from an entry-level foldable.

Entry-Level Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6
A report from The Elec claims the debut of an entry-level Galaxy Z Fold 6 later in 2024. It is being done to penetrate deeper into the foldable market and make them more accessible to consumers with limited budgets.
One of the reasons behind Samsung working on such a device is that the brand at 3rd place in the Chinese market, due to brands like Honor, Huawei, and Xiaomi making foldables more affordable in the home country. Lower prices mean more sales and traction and Samsung wants to reach the top in terms of foldables so this new foldable.
Details about affordable Galaxy Foldable
The details about the features are very minimal. The aspect ratio might be different and the device might be thinner as well. Otherwise, the design will be similar to the premium model to ensure consumer satisfaction. Display too might be almost similar to the premium foldable that are launched. It is said to be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and has a triple-lens setup at the back.
The name of the device might be Samsung Galaxy Z FE and it is the first foldable to join the ‘Fan Edition’ lineup by the brand. Unlike the existing foldable that starts at 999 USD, the affordable version will be priced somewhere between 500 USD to 600 USD.
Since the launch is expected to be in the 2nd half of 2024, the affordable foldable might launch between July and August. This would mean Samsung launching 3 foldables instead of 2- Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Samsung Galaxy Z FE (or whatever the name will be).
Whether the affordable Galaxy foldable will launch only in the Chinese market or come to other countries as well, remains to be seen.
