Recently Vivo confirmed the launch date of the third member of its V30 Series in India when it announced that Vivo V30e will roll out on May 2nd. Just like the V30 Series, the flagship Vivo X100 Series is also gearing up to get its 3rd family member in the coming months. After launching the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro in China last year and in India in January 2024, Vivo has been working on one more X100 device that will be placed above the Pro variant. Vivo X100 Ultra has been the talk of the town for a few months now ever since details about it started surfacing online.

Vivo X100 Ultra will be placed above the Vivo X100 Pro smartphone and it will launch in China first. In India, it might come with a different name as well. While earlier it was supposed to arrive in China in April, the launch has been delayed. Also, it seems like Vivo’s long partnership with Zeiss is about to end as it is planning to launch the X100 ultra with the in-house imaging brand BlueImage. Let us talk about both of these updates in detail now.

Vivo X100 Ultra: Launch Delayed?

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the launch of Vivo X100 ultra will no longer take place in April now. It has been moved to May for China and even later for markets like India. The reasons behind the delay have been under wraps so far.

Vivo X100 Ultra: Vivo-Zeiss collaboration might end?

A Chinese publication Jiemian News claims that Vivo X100 Ultra will be the first Vivo device to feature the company’s self-developed imaging brand BlueImage. Vivo trademarked BlueImage in November 2023 and the product services include optical lenses, imaging projects like graphic processors, and much more.

If this happens, BlueImage will be the second independent imaging brand after Huawei’s XMAGE which came out in July 2022. Before that Huawei was in partnership with a German brand Leica. Just like Huawei did away with Leica when it developed XMAGE, Vivo might do the same with Zeiss after it starts using BlueImage.

It is still unclear whether BlueImage will be exclusive to X100 Ultra or also roll out to X100 and X100 Pro smartphones.

Vivo X100 Ultra: Expected Specs

No official details about the Vivo X100 Ultra have been revealed so far. But leaks claim it will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and feature a Samsung E7 AMOLED 2K display. Under the hood will be a 5000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

In terms of camera, Vivo X100 Ultra is expected to flaunt a quad-camera setup instead of a triple one. One of them is said to be a 200MP unit that might be a sensor from Samsung with an HP9 model number. There will also be a 50MP LYT-900 sensor that might be the primary lens. Other than these two, a 50MP telephoto camera and a 50MP ultrawide angle lens have also been claimed for the device.

Since the Ultra model will be placed above the Pro model, it will be even more expensive than the Vivo X100 Pro. In India, it might be announced under the name Vivo 100 Pro+ as well. However since no official information is available as of now, all this needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Meanwhile, Vivo will launch the Vivo V30e in India on May 2nd. Stay tuned to this space for regular updates.
