8 Upcoming Phones That Are Expected To Launch in August 2018

Monsoons are here so expect downpours from high havens. Well, you can expect something similar from the smartphone industry as well. A number of smartphones are slated to launch this August in India. This monsoon, Samsung and Xiaomi will engage in a virtual slugfest as the game of being the number 1 smartphone brand in India is turning out to be a cliffhanger.

While Samsung will be relying on it’s soon to be unpacked Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy On8 to help it sustain its lead, Xiaomi is gearing up to bring in its next-generation Android One Phone – Mi  A2 – and try to reclaim the number one spot in India.

Apart from these two heavyweights, other brands will also jump in preparing for the upcoming festive. Here’s a complete list of top upcoming phones that are expected to launch in August 2018:

1. Samsung Galaxy On8 (2018) (August 1)

After a good show in Q2 2018, Samsung is no mood relax and is all set to launch their next On-series offering on August 1. The Galaxy On8 is basically a rebranded version of the Galaxy J8 for online buyers.

Like the Galaxy J8, it too flaunts a polycarbonate unibody design with 6-inch HD+ SAMOLED screen that has 18.5:9 aspect ratio. As for optics, the Galaxy On8 packs a dual setup of 16MP + 5MP sensor with f/1.7 and f/1.9 aperture respectively. On the front,  there’s a 16MP selfie camera. It comes with Snapdragon 450 SoC, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, and 3,500mAh battery.

2. Blackberry Evolve & Evolve X (August 2)

Optiemus Infracom is also trying to re-establish Blackberry Brand with the launch of its Evolve and Evolve X smartphones in India. The phones are expected to be unveiled on August 2. Both these phones are expected to be Amazon Exclusive in India.

Not much is known about these two phones at this moment but rumors have it they will sport dual cameras at the rear with low light enhancement and optical zoom features. Blackberry is also expected to pack a 4000mAh battery and run on the latest Android.

3. Honor Play 6 (August 6)

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is all set to launch its gaming Centric Honor Play 6 in India this month. The phone boasts of a 6.3-inch LCD screen with fullHD+ resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio and an 83% screen-to-body ratio. The narrow notch on the top houses a 16MP selfie camera and an earpiece.

At the heart of Honor Play 6, there is a Kirin 970 SoC matted to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. To deliver high-end gaming experience the Play 6 comes with GPU Turbo tech which should be a delight for gamers.

4. Mi A2 (August 8 )

After Global launch in Spain last month, Xiaomi is prepping up to launch Xiaomi Mi A2 (review) in India. The launch event will be held in the national capital on August 8. The Mi A2 India launch live stream will go live on Xiaomi’s all social pages and official youtube channel.

Like its predecessor, the Mi A2 comes running on stock Android Oreo. The phone has 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Other major highlights of the Mi A2 includes the Snapdragon 660 chipset, 12MP + 20 MP dual rear cameras and support for quick charge 4.0.

5. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (August 9)

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will probably be Samsung’s last flagship launch of 2018. Samsung is hosting an Unpacked event in New York where it will officially unveil the Note 9 in front of the world for the first time.

This year, the biggest highlight of the Note 9 is expected to be its new S-Pen with Bluetooth support. Ahead of the launch, Samsung has officially stated that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Launch Price will be reasonable. We expect the Galaxy Note 9 India Launch within weeks of global launch.

6. Oppo F9 Pro

After the launch of Find X, Oppo is back into selfie game and it is set to launch the F9 Pro in India. To create a buzz for its upcoming phone prior to the launch, Oppo has been officially teasing the phone which apparently features a tiny notch which seems inspired from the likes of the Essential phone and Sharp Aquos S2.

As for the features, the Oppo F9 Pro is rumored to feature some sort of waterproofing, a 25 MP selfie snapper, dual rear cameras and VOOC fast charging. The phone is expected to arrive in India post-Indipandenceday.

7. Moto G6 Plus

Recently Lenovo-Motorola started teasing about the Moto G6 Plus with coming soon posts on its social media channels, therefore, we expect it to launch in India soon.

The Moto G6 Plus is the only phone from G6 family which is yet to arrive in India. The phone is expected to be priced around Rs 15,000 for the Indian market. The Moto G6 comes with Snapdragon 630 SoC, 5.9-inch FHD+ display, dual rear optics and 3,200mAh battery with turbocharging support.

8. Nokia 6.1 Plus

HMD Global’s first notch display phone – the Nokia X6 is also expected to land in India sometime later this month as the Nokia 6.1 Plus. So far, the Nokia X6 has been launched in China and Russia where it is offered in two variants and in blue, black, and silver colors.

The Nokia X6 employs a Snapdragon 636 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and 32 or 64GB of internal storage. In China, HMD Global also offers it with a 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage variant but it remains to be seen whether it comes to India or not. The X6 includes a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a USB-C port for charging and data transfer.
