The electric vehicle (EV) market in India has seen substantial growth in recent years. EVs are becoming more affordable and accessible to a wider audience. The charging infrastructure is also expanding rapidly. Moreover, rising fuel prices have prompted many Indian consumers to consider electric vehicle options. However, range anxiety continues to be a concern for potential buyers, which can affect their purchasing decisions.

Fortunately, several electric vehicles in India provide a commendable range on a single charge, making them suitable for long-distance travel. Today, we have curated a list of the top 10 electric cars that are reported to deliver the highest range on a single charge in India.

1. MG Comet EV

MG Comet EV stands out as one of the most budget-friendly and compact electric vehicles available in India. Tailored for city driving, this hatchback boasts a contemporary design and a variety of features that reflect MG’s dedication to eco-friendly transportation and the increasing interest in electric vehicles within the country.

The Comet EV’s design is both compact and boxy, making it ideal for navigating urban environments. It features expansive windows and a striking front grille, enhanced by sleek LED headlights and an elegant light bar that adds a stylish accent. With a turning radius of 4.2 meters, the vehicle is offered in six different variants: Executive, Excite, Excite FC, Exclusive, Exclusive FC, and Exclusive FC-100 Year Edition.

The starting price is Rs. 4,99,800, reaching a maximum of Rs. 9,64,800. All variants offer identical performance characteristics and utilize the same powertrain, featuring a battery capacity of 17.3kWh. The vehicle can travel 230km on a single charge, with the motor delivering a peak power of 42 PS. The MG Comet EV is available in several colors, including Starry Black, Candy White, and Aurora Silver, as well as dual-tone options of Candy White with Starry Black and Apple Green with Starry Black.

2. Tata Tiago EV

Tata Tiago EV made its debut in India in September 2022 and has quickly become one of the top-selling electric vehicles in the nation. It recently achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 50,000 units sold, establishing itself as one of the most reliable and secure hatchbacks available.

The Tata Tiago EV is priced starting at Rs. 7.99 lakh, with the highest variant reaching Rs. 11.49 lakh. This compact electric car accommodates five passengers and is offered in four trim levels: XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux. Customers can choose between two battery pack options, 19.2kWh and 24kWh. The vehicle features an automatic transmission with a driving range of 250km to 315km and is available in five attractive colors: Teal Blue, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist, Pristine White, and Midnight Plum.

The electric motor output depends on the battery pack. The EV comes with a 3.3kW or 7.2kW home charger depending on the variant.

3. Tata Punch EV

Tata Punch EV has been introduced in India, starting at a price of Rs. 10.99 lakh (Ex-showroom). It is available in four variants: Smart, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+, with the highest variant priced at Rs. 14.49 lakh. This electric vehicle is built on Tata’s Gen-2 Pure EV platform, known as Acti.EV, and incorporates high-strength materials to enhance safety.

The Punch EV features a ground clearance of 190mm and sports a design reminiscent of the Nexon EV, including a closed grille, new 16-inch alloy wheels, and sleek LED headlights. It offers a storage capacity of 14 liters in addition to a standard boot space of 366 liters. The vehicle is equipped with two battery options: 25kWh and 35kWh, providing ranges of up to 315km and 421km, respectively, on a single charge. It produces 80bhp of power and 114Nm of peak torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 9.5 seconds, with a top speed of 140kmph.

4. Mercedes Benz EQS SUV

The electric vehicle counterpart of the GLS was introduced in India a month ago. This flagship electric SUV from the German manufacturer is assembled locally at its facility in Chakan, utilizing a Completely Knocked Down kit. Mercedes Benz EQS SUV features a fully electric powertrain and is available in a single, fully-equipped 580 4MATIC variant.

The pricing is set at 1.41 crore (ex-showroom), making India the only market outside the USA to receive locally assembled battery electric vehicles, following the launch of the EQS sedan last year. The SUV shares design, features, and specifications with the EQS sedan, as both models are built on a similar platform.

The EQS SUV showcases a recognizable design, featuring a sealed front end adorned with a central three-pointed star and a glossy black panel that bears similar patterns. The charging port is conveniently positioned on the front left fender. Inside, the cabin boasts a 12.3-inch display, a comprehensive two-tier Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, and an impressive 17.7-inch infotainment screen. This electric vehicle is equipped with soft-close doors, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and front and rear parking sensors, among other features. Its dual motor configuration delivers a maximum output of 536 bhp and 858 Nm of torque. The vehicle is powered by a 122 kWh battery, offering a range of 809 km on a full charge, and can recharge from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes.

5. Tata Curvv EV

The Tata Curvv EV is built on the enhanced Acti.ev platform, which was introduced alongside the Punch EV earlier in 2024. The manufacturer asserts that this platform is versatile enough to accommodate various vehicle shapes and sizes, indicating that it will be utilized for additional models in the future. The Tata Curvv features 18-inch alloy wheels and provides three driving modes—Eco, City, and Sport—along with a Multi-Mode Regeneration system equipped with paddle shifters. The ground clearance for the Curvv EV 45 is 190mm, while the Curvv EV 55 has a ground clearance of 186mm.

The Tata Curvv EV features a sophisticated interior characterized by a grey dual-tone color palette, with a prominent 12.29-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the higher-end models. It includes a voice-activated panoramic sunroof, front seats with ventilation, a JBL audio system, a powered tailgate with gesture control, and an array of safety features such as six airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), a driver drowsiness alert, among others. The vehicle is equipped with 1.2C fast charging technology, allowing the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes. It is available in three trims, with prices ranging from Rs. 17.49 lakh to Rs. 21.99 lakh.

6. Mahindra XUV EV400

The Mahindra XUV EV400 is a fully electric SUV equipped with a variety of features, including a spacious trunk, wireless charging capabilities, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It offers two battery options: a 34.5kWh variant providing a range of 375 km and a 39.4kWh variant with a range of 456 km.

The vehicle can be charged using a 50kW DC Fast Charger, which allows for a full charge in approximately 50 minutes. Designed to accommodate five passengers, the SUV features a raised rear bench due to the battery’s positioning, which may lead to some discomfort in seating posture. Additionally, it boasts a boot capacity of 378 liters, with prices ranging from Rs. 15.49 lakh to Rs. 19.39 lakh.

7. Tata Nexon EV

Tata Nexon EV was introduced in India, starting at a price of Rs. 13.99 lakh. It is available in three variants, with the highest-spec model priced at Rs. 15.99 lakh. The vehicle is equipped with a 95kW electric motor and a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The Nexon EV delivers an output of 129bhp and 245Nm of torque, offering a driving range of 312km on a single charge. Additionally, the Tata Nexon EV features a variety of amenities, including a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a rotary dial for gear selection, among others.

8. Kia EV9

The Kia EV9 has been introduced in India with a starting price of Rs. 1.30 crore, representing the flagship SUV from the Korean manufacturer built on the E-GMP platform. This model features a robust, boxy design typical of SUVs, highlighted by vertically arranged LED headlights and extended LED daytime running lights (DRLs).

The front of the EV9 showcases a closed grille and a black bumper, which is complemented by a silver skid plate beneath. It is equipped with 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, accented by gloss black cladding that runs along the vehicle’s sides. Inside, the Kia EV9 offers two interior color options: a combination of white with black and another of brown with black. The cabin includes a floating dashboard that houses two 12.3-inch displays alongside an 11-inch head-up display. In terms of safety, the vehicle is equipped with 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and front and rear parking sensors, among other features. The Kia EV9 is powered by a 99.8 kWh battery, providing an impressive range of 561 km.

9. BYD Seal

The BYD Seal electric vehicle has been introduced in India at a price of Rs. 53 lakh. This sedan boasts a sporty design and impressive performance, with the manufacturer providing a complimentary 3-year service and maintenance package valued at Rs. 50,000. The BYD Seal features an all-wheel-drive system powered by dual motors on each axle, delivering a remarkable output of 523 bhp and 670 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, and the top variant is equipped with an 82.56 kWh battery, offering a range of 58 km.

10. BMW i5

The BMW i5 Electric Sedan has officially debuted in India, available exclusively in the M60xDrive variant, priced at ₹1.20 crore. This model is equipped with a powerful 601hp motor and an 83.9kWh battery, providing an impressive range of 516km on a single charge. The battery operates two electric motors, one on each axle, generating a peak torque of 795Nm.

According to BMW, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds, with a maximum speed of 230km/h. The BMW i5 EV includes an 11kW wall charger, with an optional 22kW AC charger available. Inside, the cabin boasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen powered by the latest iDrive 8.5OS. Additionally, the car features sports seats equipped with an active cooling function, among other amenities.
