vivo has officially pulled the wraps off the X Fold6, its most ambitious foldable phone yet, at a press conference in China. The device lands as a direct successor to last year’s X Fold5, but the spec sheet and design changes make it clear that vivo has ensure it doesn’t fall behnd the competition in battery and and weight while maintaining its edge in camera hardware. vivo is pushing hard on battery innovation, cold-weather survivability, and a camera system built around a 200-megapixel sensor co-engineered with Zeiss all packed into a body that weighs 228g and measures just 4.4mm thick when open.
Prices in China start at 7,999 yuan (about $1,175 or ₹1.1 lakh) for 12GB/256GB, and go up to 12,299 yuan (about $1,807 or ₹1.7 lakh) for the top imaging kit. Pre-orders are open, and sales start July 1 in China.
Design and displays: three nature-inspired finishes, two high-refresh-rate panels

The X Fold6 updates vivo’s foldable design with rounded corners and a 2.5D metal frame. You can pick from three colors: Blue Hole, Salt Lake, and Polar Night. Blue Hole is a bit heavier at 235 grams, while the others weigh 228 grams. When open, the phone is just 4.4mm thick, which is about as thin as you can get and still fit a USB-C port.
The X Fold6 has two screens: an 8.02-inch Samsung AMOLED inside and a 6.51-inch BOE AMOLED outside. Both support 1-120Hz adaptive refresh, hit up to 5,000 nits brightness, and work with Dolby Vision. Both displays have TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 and can dim down to just 1 nit, which is useful if you want to read in bed without lighting up the whole room.

Performance and durability: a 3nm MediaTek flagship and serious water resistance
The X Fold6 runs on MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 Super Edition, a 3nm octa-core chip with an Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU. You can get it with 12GB/256GB up to 16GB/1TB, using fast LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. vivo also built in a custom ‘1+4’ communication chip to boost signal and Wi-Fi, which helps with the tricky antenna setups in foldable phones.
The X Fold6 stands out for durability. It has IP5X dust resistance and both IPX8 and IPX9 water resistance. IPX9 is rare and means the phone can handle high-pressure water jets and steam cleaning. vivo also says the phone is freeze-proof down to -20°C, which shows the battery tech is built for tough conditions.

Battery and charging: 7,000mAh with a first-of-its-kind combo
The X Fold6 has the biggest battery vivo has ever used in a foldable at 7,000mAh. It gets this size by combining fifth-gen silicon anode tech for more energy and third-gen semi-solid-state battery tech for better stability in hot or cold weather. This setup tackles two big foldable problems: running out of battery when using the big screen a lot, and losing performance in extreme temperatures.
Charging speeds are the same as before: 80W wired and 40W wireless. That makes sense given how big the battery is and the need to keep things cool.
Cameras: 200MP main, 50MP periscope zoom, and a teleconverter twist
vivo’s partnership with Zeiss continues to deepen. The rear camera array is built around a V3+ imaging chip and three sensors:
| Camera | Hardware |
| Main | 200MP Samsung HPB, 1/1.4″, f/1.68, Zeiss T* coating, OIS |
| Telephoto | 50MP Sony LYT602, 1/1.95″, 3x periscope zoom, f/2.57, supports 200mm G2 teleconverter |
| Ultra-wide | 50MP, f/2.05, 15mm focal length |
The periscope camera works with a 200mm teleconverter, which is rare for a phone and gives you the kind of zoom range you usually only get with a real camera. Both front cameras, one on each screen, use 20MP sensors with f/2.4 apertures.
Software: OriginOS 6 Fold and the Atomic Workbench
Hardware is only part of the story. The X Fold6 launches with OriginOS 6 Fold, based on Android 16, and a new multitasking system called Atomic Workbench. You can split the 8-inch screen to run several apps at once, not just side by side like most foldables. The demo shows you can edit documents, browse the web, and message all at once, with drag-and-drop between windows. Whether this is truly productive will depend on how well it works, but treating the big screen as a real workspace is the right move.

Pricing and availability
The vivo X Fold6 is available to order now in China, with sales starting July 1st. No global launch has been announced yet. The full pricing ladder:
| Varient | China Price | Converted in Dollars | Price in Indian Rupees |
| 12GB + 256GB | ¥7,999 | $1,175 | ₹1,10,990 |
| 12GB + 512GB | ¥8,999 | $1,322 | ₹1,24,850 |
| 16GB + 512GB | ¥9,999 | $1,469 | ₹1,38,720 |
| 16GB + 1TB | ¥10,999 | $1,616 | ₹1,52,595 |
| 16GB + 1TB Bluehole Professional Imaging Kit | ¥11,999 | $1,763 | ₹1,66,485 |
| 16GB + 1TB Black Gold Professional Imaging Kit | ¥12,299 | $1,807 | ₹1,70,650 |
The vivo X Fold6 makes a strong case for foldables by being a better phone overall, not just a more flexible one. The camera is flagship-level, the battery is bigger and more advanced than anything else in this category, and the water resistance beats most regular phones. The software actually uses the big inner screen for real work. The only catch is that it’s only available in China for now. If vivo brings this to India and other markets with all these features, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold finally has real competition.
