Smartphones Launching in October 2023: Pixel 8 Series, Galaxy S23 FE & More in the fray

Festival Season in India is about to begin and ahead of the season, leading tech giants are prepping up to launch new smartphones to cash in on the demand during festive sales. While September saw the Apple iPhone 15 Series, October will see brands like Samsung, Google, Vivo, Itel, OnePlus, and more launching their devices. OnePlus will launch its first foldable while Itel will enter the 5G segment with under 15k and under 10k devices. Let us have a look at the major smartphone launches that will take place in October 2023.

1. Google Pixel 8 Series

Launch Date- 4 October 2023

Google is all set to launch its Pixel 8 Series globally in October 2023. The Pixel 8 Series includes Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. Pixel 8 series will be powered by Tensor G3 chipset and feature a new Titan Security M2 chip as well. Cameras are expected to get an upgrade for both the models of the Pixel 8 series. Reports claim that Google might give 7 years of software updates for the Pixel 8 Series.

Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will sport 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED panels with 120Hz refresh rate. The only difference will be the Pro model having LTPO technology. While the Pixel 8 is expected to have 256GB onboard storage, the Pixel 8 Pro might have up to 1TB storage onboard. The smartphones might have 4500mAh and 5000mAh batteries respectively.

As for the cameras, the Pixel 8 is expected to have a 50MP+12MP setup at the back while Pixel 8 Pro might have a 50MP+48MP+48MP rear setup. As for selfies, both Pixel 8 models are said to have a 10.5MP front camera. The pro model might have a telephoto lens with 30x zoom.

Tipsters Kamila Wojciechowska and Roland Quandt have leaked the prices of the Pixel 8 series. They claim that Pixel 8 will have a price of 699 USD (Rs. 58,170) in the US and 699 pounds (Rs. 70,821) in the UK. Wojciechowska claims that the starting price of the Pro model might be 899 USD (Rs. 74,814) in the US while Quandt claims that the Pro model will have a price of 999 pounds (Rs. 1,01,212) in the UK.

2. Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

Launch Date- 4th October 2023

Samsung will be adding one more member to its Galaxy S23 family by launching the Samsung Galaxy S23 Fan Edition smartphone next month. A promotional poster has revealed the date of launch to be the 4th of October and the device will be on sale in Amazon and Flipkart’s upcoming sales. Launching during these sales will ensure that customers get attractive deals on S23 FE when it goes official.

The Galaxy S23 FE will have a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and Exynos 2200 chipsets for different countries and will have up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The Fan Edition is said to have a 4500mAh battery with 25W fast charging.

In terms of cameras, the Galaxy S23 FE is said to have a 50MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, and 12MP telephoto lens. At the front will be a 10MP selfie camera. The starting price is expected to be Rs. 54,999 for the 128GB storage model.

3. Itel P55 Power 5G

Sale Date- 4 October

Itel P55 Power 5G is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 6080 5G chipset with up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. There is 5G NRCA technology that doesn’t let the connectivity fall in 4G but helps to remain in 5G and browse faster. There is support for 10 5G bands.  It sports a 6.6-inch HD+ waterdrop display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

The smartphone sports a 50MP AI dual camera setup at the back and an 8MP selfie camera at the front. It packs a 5000mAh battery under the hood with 18W fast charging and security features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and Face ID. The smartphone comes with a 2-year warranty and Itel also offers 1 time free screen replacement with the device.

Itel P55 Power 5G comes in 2 storage configurations in the country-

  • 4GB RAM+64GB storage- Rs. 9699
  • 6GB RAM+128GB storage- Rs. 9999

It comes in Galaxy Blue and Mint Green shades and will be available via Amazon as well as offline. For those who buy Itel P55 5G via retail channels, finance options will be available with leading NBFC and payment aggregators.

4. Itel S23+ 5G

Sale Date- 6 October

The Itel S23+ 5G sports a 6.78-inch FHD+ 3D AMOLED Curved display with a 240Hz touch sampling rate. It is powered by a T616 Octa-core chipset with 16GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. The smartphone features a 50MP AI camera setup at the back and a 32MP selfie camera at the front.

It draws juice from a 5000mAh battery with 18W Type-C fast charging. The security features include an in-display fingerprint sensor and Face ID while it runs Android T OS. The S23+ is 7.9mm thick and weighs 180 grams. The device comes with a 2-year warranty and 2 free screen replacements.

Itel S23+ 5G comes in a single 16GB RAM+256GB onboard storage model for Rs. 13,999. It will be available in Elemental Blue and Lake Cyan shades and will go on sale in the first week of October via Amazon as well as offline. For those who buy Itel S23+ 5G via retail channels, finance options will be available with leading NBFC and payment aggregators.

5. Vivo V29 Series

Launch Date- 4 October

Vivo launched the first smartphone in its V29 Series in August when the brand announced Vivo V29e which has an artistic design. Now, two more members will be added to the Vivo V29 Series in October 2023. Vivo V29 and Vivo V29 Pro will launch in the first week of next month and have a curved display, aura ring light, and 3 color variants. The devices will be 0.746cm thick and weigh around 186 grams making them one of the lightest and fastest in the segment.

Talking about specs, the Vivo V29 Series will have a primary 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor along with a Sony IMX663 sensor. The third camera will be a 2MP depth sensor at the back. Vivo V29 will have a 6.78-inch FHD+ Curved AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by Snapdragon 778G chipset along with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The device might have a 4600mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging.

6. OnePlus Open

Launch Date- 19 October (tentative)

The leaks around the first foldable by OnePlus have been making news for a while now. Finally, it seems the foldable is ready to see the light of the day. OnePlus Open might launch in October 2023. OnePlus Open will share many similarities with Oppo Find N3, so much so that some reports claim it is a rebrand of Oppo Find N3.

OnePlus Open is also tipped to come in India but with limited availability. The foldable will have a 7.8-inch AMOLED panel with LTPO technology and 2K resolution. Upon folding, it will have a 6.3-inch AMOLED display, both panels having a 120Hz refresh rate.

OnePlus Open will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 16GB RAM. It will have a 4800mAh battery with 67W fast charging. Wireless charging is still unconfirmed. OnePlus has worked on cameras as well. The foldable is said to have a Hasselblad camera setup with a 48MP primary, 48MP ultrawide, and a 64MP telephoto lens at the back. For selfies, there will be a 32MP+20MP lens setup with 64MP sensor zooming capabilities. The foldable is tipped to be priced at around 1,500 dollars.

7. Tecno Phantom V Flip

Launch Date- 23 September

Sale Date- 1 October

Tecno Phantom V Flip is the most affordable foldable at the moment with a price tag of just Rs. 49,999. The foldable was launched recently and will go on sale on the 1st of October. It comes in a single 8GB RAM+256GB storage variant.

Phantom V Flip has a 6.9-inch FHD+ Flexible AMOLED panel and an outer 1.32-inch AMOLED cover display. It is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chipset and has a 4500mAh battery with 45W wired fast charging. In terms of camera optics, the foldable has a 64MP primary and 13MP ultrawide lens at the back and a 32MP camera at the front.

8. Redmi Note 13 5G

Launch Date- end of October

Redmi Note 13 Series launched in China recently and at least one of its models is expected to come to India by the end of October. The Redmi Note 13 5G was seen on the BIS website a few days ago which makes its India launch imminent. Some reports claim Redmi Note 13 might be launched as Poco X6 in India.

Redmi Note 13 5G flaunts a 6.6-inch FHD+ OLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits brightness. It is powered by Dimensity 6080 chipset with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The device has a dual camera setup at the back with a 108MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor. At the front is a 16MP selfie lens and under the hood is a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging capability.
