The European automaker Skoda recently launched its first sub-4 meter SUV in India. Dubbed Kylaq, the vehicle marks the company’s entry into the hottest segment in India, where the competition is high and the prices are low. Speaking of price, the 2024 Skoda Kylaq starts at Rs. 7.89 lakhs (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable vehicle in the category.
But what features will the base model offer? Will the 10-inch infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster be a part of the entry-level trim? Thankfully, the company’s website gives us a good look at the features available on the base trim, i.e., Classic. Spoiler alert: the model’s interiors differ from what you’d seen in the initial press coverage.

Skoda Kylaq Classic Trim Interiors Breakdown
Steering Controls
First and foremost, let’s talk about the steering. The Skoda Kylaq’s Classic variant features a two-spoke steering. However, unlike the higher trims, the base variant doesn’t get steering-mounted controls. Further, it doesn’t get the chrome accents as seen on the Signature+ variant. Even so, the shiny logo in the center remains the same.
Instrument Cluster
Next, let’s talk about the instrument cluster. While the Signature+ and Prestige models, the Kylaq Classic features an analog instrument cluster, with the dial for speed on the right and RPM on the left. In the center, there’s an LED screen that showcases key information like time, trip details, mileage, etc.
Right close to the steering are the power-window controls for the driver, which are standard on all the models. The Signature+ and Prestige models have an additional button in the small module, but it is not immediately clear as to what the button is for.
Center Console And Infotainment Screen
Now, let’s move towards the center console of the car. The Skoda Kylaq’s Classic version doesn’t come with an infotainment screen. Instead, you get an empty slot in its place, which is situated right above the central air-conditioning vents. Below the vents are manual climate controls, which feature knobs instead of a dial or a switch. While we’re hovering around the subject, the Kylaq gets an automatic climate control system from the Signature+ variant.

USB Ports And Armrest
It is important to mention that the Classic variant seems to miss what looks like the defogger button to the right of the fan speed selector and an additional button to the left of the blinker. Further, the base variant doesn’t have any USB ports on the front either, while Signature gets two. What’s good is that the company is providing an armrest on the Kylaq Classic.
Dashboard
Toward the roof, we can see a manually-adjustable day/night IRVM, along with buttons for the headlamps. Moreover, the three-level dashboard is the same on all the models, except the Signature+ and Prestige variants highlight it with a different (light-shade) color. All four models have different seats, though, and the one on the base variant looks like it’s made of fabric.
Rear AC Vents And Headrests
For rear passengers, Kylaq’s Classic variant has dual AC vents, three headrests, and three-point seatbelts. However, the center armrest is exclusive to the Signature+ and Prestige trims. Last but not least, the base variant doesn’t seem to have a rear defogger (which is probably what the additional button on the Signature variant is for) or lamps for the rear passengers. The sunroof is available on the Prestige model.
