SanDisk has launched its Optimus GX PRO 8100 and Optimus GX 7100 NVMe SSDs in India, expanding its lineup into high-performance internal storage. The launch also marks SanDisk’s push further into the gaming and creator segment in India after becoming an independent company following its split from Western Digital in February 2025.
SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 8100
The Optimus GX PRO 8100 is the faster of the two drives, using a PCIe 5.0 interface and reaching sequential read speeds of up to 14,900MB/s. Sequential write speeds go up to 14,000MB/s, although the actual figure depends on capacity. The 1TB version, for example, tops out at around 11,000MB/s.
It is available in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB capacities, with endurance reaching up to 4,800 TBW on the 8TB model. SanDisk also sells a version with an anodised aluminium heatsink for users running sustained workloads.
The drive is based on the same underlying platform as the WD Black SN8100, giving SanDisk an established PCIe 5.0 platform for its new lineup.
SanDisk Optimus GX 7100
The GX 7100 takes the PCIe 4.0 route. It uses a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and reaches sequential read speeds of up to 7,250MB/s, while sequential writes can hit 6,900MB/s on the 1TB and 2TB models.
Storage options range from 500GB to 4TB, with nCache 4.0 handling the drive’s caching. SanDisk is positioning it for laptops, handheld gaming devices and other systems where PCIe 4.0 storage makes more sense.
Price and Availability in India
The SanDisk Optimus GX PRO 8100 1TB without a heatsink costs ₹34,999, while the Optimus GX 7100 1TB is priced at ₹26,799.
Both SSDs are available on Amazon India. SanDisk has not announced Indian prices for the higher-capacity variants yet.
The Optimus GX PRO 8100 starts at $524.99 in the US, while the GX 7100 starts at $207.99. These are lineup starting prices and don’t directly correspond to the Indian 1TB prices.
