Samsung has announced its latest iteration of foldable devices—the Galaxy Z Fold6 and the Galaxy Z Flip6. While the Galaxy Z Fold6 seems like a very minor upgrade, the Galaxy Z Flip6 brings some notable upgrades.

The Galaxy Z Flip6 is the younger sibling and a clamshell foldable, succeeding the Galaxy Z Flip5. It is available in three colors: Silver Shadow, Yellow, Blue, and Mint. You can get the device in three other colors exclusively on Samsung.com—Crafted Black, White, and Peach.

The one we have is in the Blue colorway, and it looks gorgeous. Let’s take a closer look.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Design and Build

Starting off, the Galaxy Z Flip6 is more compact than the Z Flip5, being 0.2mm thinner when folded. The rest of the dimensions remain the same. Samsung seems to have reduced the gap between the screen when folded.

The Z Flip6 tips the scale at 187 grams, which may seem the same as the Z Flip5 (it is the same) but the Z Flip6 has a larger 4,000 mAh battery to justify the weight. The crease on the display, although still noticeable, isn’t as prominent as the one on the Z Flip5.

Samsung is using “Armor Aluminum” for the Z Flip6’s frame that, in Samsung’s words, is more drop- and scatch-resistant. There’s also Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the cover screen and the back. And yes, the phone is rated IP48 water-resistant. Note that this does not mean any dust resistance.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Display(s)

The Galaxy Z Flip6 uses the same screen as the Z Flip5—a 6.7” FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X LTPO display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The cover screen also remains unchanged—a 3.4” AMOLED screen with a resolution of 720 x 748 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

The brightness, at least on the main screen, has been bumped from 1,750 Nits to 2,600 Nits. The cover screen on the Z Flip6 has the same folder-style shape as the Galaxy Z Flip5. It still sometimes struggles with content optimization.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Hardware

Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Flip6 has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. This is complimented well with the new vapour cooling system inside. This new vapour cooling system also allows the Z Flip6 to use Samsung DeX for the first time.

As for the memory, the Z Flip6 uses 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. There are two storage options—256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone also supports USB Type-C 3.2, which means that data transfers are going to be blazing fast.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Battery and Charging

The Galaxy Z Flip6 has a 4,000 mAh dual-cell battery that supports up to 25W fast charging, but the charger is not included in the box. Samsung says that a compatible 25W charger can charge the Z Flip6 from 0 to 50% in around 30 minutes.

We are yet to test this claim so stay tuned for our review. The phone also supports 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wirless charging to charger other devices or accessories.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Software

The Galaxy Z Flip6 runs on One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14. Similar to the Z Fold6 and the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung promises to deliver seven years of major OS updates and seven years security updates for this Z Flip6. This means that the Z Flip6 has got you covered till 2031 or Android 21.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 AI Features

The Galaxy Z Flip6 comes with several useful AI features. The AI Interpreter can translate conversations in real-time and it works on the cover screen and the main screen at the same time. The Composer feature can help you generate text, like emails, and Suggested Replies gives you full sentence options for quick responses to messages.

There’s also Draw Assist with the S Pen for refining your sketches and Generative Wallpaper for creating unique wallpapers. Live Effects can add depth to your photos and convert them into animated 3D images.

Circle to Search, powered by Google Lens, can now translate up to three languages at once. It can also solve homework problems for you. Like, it can solve a quadratic equation with the steps involved.

Wallpaper Suggestion helps you set portrait photos perfectly on your lock screen, and Record & Transcribe on Note Assist turns voice notes into transcriptions and summaries.

Sketch to Image is an interesting one. It lets you enhance your sketches, new ones or on an existing image, with generative AI. You can several “human-like” images to choose from.

Portrait Studio allows you to make your photos look like Comic, 3D Cartoon, Sketch, or Watercolor. Finally, Auto Zoom ensures everyone fits in the frame during FlexMode, making group photos or self-portraits easy.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Cameras

The Galaxy Z Flip6 has a dual-camera setup on the rear but this time we are seeing a major upgrade. The main sensor has been upgraded to a 50 MP f/1.8 wide-angle lens with OIS. The 12 MP ultra-wide lens remains the same at f/2.2 aperture. There’s also a 10 MP f/2.2 selfie camera on the front. And of course, you can take selfies using the main camera with the help of the cover screen.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 Price In India

The Galaxy Z Flip6 comes in two storage variants—

  • 256 GB for ₹1,09,999
  • 512 GB for ₹1,21,999

Notably, that’s a ₹10,000/₹12,000 price bump over the Galaxy Z Flip5.

So, that’s all we have to share on the Galaxy Z Flip6 for now. We’ll, very soon, be posting a full review of the device, so stay tuned.
