TL;DR
- Samsung is working on a flip-style “FE” variant, which could be called the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE.
- If everything goes well, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE should also be more affordable than the regular Galaxy Z Flip 7.
- The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE might not feature the most powerful processor at the time of launch.
While Samsung has led the foldable market for years, other companies are catching up with relatively affordable clamshell models, providing an entry point to more customers. To catch up, the Korean tech giant seems to be working on an “FE” edition of its Galaxy Z Flip lineup. Here’s everything we know about the smartphone, including when it could launch and what specifications it can possibly come with.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Could Launch In 2025
On November 19, 2024, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants and a renowned analyst, Ross Young, said that Samsung is working on a flip-style “FE” variant, which could be called the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. Given that the company has launched FE or Fan Edition variants of its popular S series smartphone, an FE version of its Flip series makes sense.
How Much Could The Phone Cost?
For those catching up, the Galaxy S24 FE (Rs. 59,999) costs 25% less than the regular Galaxy S24 (Rs. 79,999). However, that is just the difference in the listing prices of the smartphones. More often than not, the phones are available at a discounted price, which makes them even more appealing.
If everything goes well, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE should also be more affordable than the regular Galaxy Z Flip 7. We believe the Flip 7 FE could cost around Rs. 70,000 in India (but it could be less as well).
The Phone Can Break Cover At Galaxy Unpacked In August 2025
Regarding the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE’s release timeline, Young says that a “Samsung FE clamshell is finally coming in 2025.” From what we gather, Samsung might release the clamshell FE smartphone at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the second half of the year, when it usually draws the curtains from the next generation of foldables.
The tip from Young makes more sense than ever, especially after Samsung declared in its Q3 2024 earnings call that the company is looking for ways to lower the entry barriers into the foldable segment, helping it reach more customers. That said, the more affordable price tag will come with some compromises here and there.
Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Expected Specifications
For instance, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE might not feature the most powerful processor at the time of launch. Instead, it could either come with a one-year-old processor, like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, or a slightly less powerful chipset, like the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Young also adds that the Flip 7 FE’s display will remain the same as that of the Flip 7, which should be a big relief for potential customers. However, the cameras and processor might not be the same. Besides the affordable flip-style foldable, Samsung is also working on a new Galaxy S25 Slim variant and a Galaxy Z Fold 7 SE edition.
