Google recently released the Android 15 update for Pixel devices. Now, the company is giving us a glimpse of the next major version: Android 16. If you own a Pixel device from the yester years, you can download the Android 16 Developer Preview 1 today.
With Android 16, Google is changing its update strategy. The company has rolled out the first developer build for Pixel devices, with a public beta scheduled for January 2025.

Surprisingly, Google has opted to push the Developer Preview build to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, despite both having reached the end of their official software update cycle. The first Android 16 Developer Preview is available for a wide range of Pixel devices, from the Pixel 6 to the latest Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Here is the complete list of compatible Pixel devices:

Currently, there don’t appear to be any major new features or significant user interface changes in Android 16. However, Google is promising deeper API improvements that will be documented in the coming months.
