Samsung Galaxy S8 To Have 1,000FPS Slo-mo Iris sensor; Will Authenticate Mobile Payment with Facial Recognition

Even as we await Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S8, some more news pertaining to the phone has turned up, which, if proven to be right, will make it a trendsetter of sorts.

According to the latest reports, the phone will possibly feature a DRAM embedded in the camera on the back alongside a high-quality Iris sensor.

The addition of the DRAM would allow the phone to shoot videos at a staggering 1,000fps but the S8 won’t flaunt the ‘first one ever’ tag for this next generation camera technology. So, which one was the the first one, you ask?

Well, Sony has rightfully earned that bragging right. The Japanese multi-corp has already made a foray into that segment, courtesy its flagship phone, the Xperia XZ Premium, that can shoot amazing slow-mos but at a slightly lesser frame rate (960fps) than the one deemed to be featured in the S8.

The company also manufactures mobile DRAM for other OEMs and perhaps intends to start a revolution of sorts in the context of slow motion video capture.

Along with that, as per reports, the much-awaited smartphone might feature a 3.7MP Iris sensor as well as facial recognition payment technology.

If the rumors stand true, the new flagship phone would even go a step further than its previous contemporaries and will allow mobile transactions simply through facial recognition.

The new-found feature can very well work in tandem with the Iris sensor, including in an ambient light, which makes facial recognition a tad difficult.

All said and done, the S8 would indeed bring about a revolution if it, at all, comes out with all of that.
