Samsung Galaxy S22 Series launch: Here’s all to expect from the Unpacked Event on Feb 9

Samsung Galaxy S22 Series is all set to get a launch tomorrow i.e. 9th February in Samsung’s 1st Unpacked Event for 2022. The launch event will see the announcement of the S22 Series and Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Series. It will begin at 8:30 pm IST.

Here’s all that we know about the Samsung Galaxy S22 series smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy S22 Series Price

The details about the price & availability for India will be announced shortly after the global launch tomorrow. Some reports from a few days back did claim to know about the price of the series in India.

According to them, the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be available at a starting price of Rs. 59,700 approx. for the base model. The two storage options expected are 8GB RAM+!28GB storage and 8GB RAM+256GB storage.

The Galaxy S22+ will be priced at Rs. 74,600 while the top model Galaxy S22 Ultra might cost around Rs. 89,500. The top-end model is expected to come in 3 configurations-

  • 8GB RAM+128GB storage
  • 12GB RAM+256GB storage
  • 12GB RAM+512GB storage

Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra Specs

The top-end model Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will have a design similar to Galaxy Note devices. As per the leaked design renders, it will have an S-pen slot at the bottom edge along with having a boxy design and curved screen at the front.

It will sport a 6.8-inch 2X Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a hole-punch cutout at the top center. As the name suggests, the display will support 2K resolution and have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+. It will have 1750 nits of peak brightness.

Galaxy S22 Ultra

In the camera department, the smartphone will have a quad-camera setup. The expected specs include a 108MP Super Clear lens, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and two 10MP telephoto camera sensors. The telephoto lenses will offer 3x and 10x optical zoom. At the front will be a 40MP selfie shooter.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will pack a 5000mAh battery under the hood with 45W fast charging support and run Android 12 based One UI 4.1 out of the box. Though the phone will have both Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipsets according to the region, the latest buzz is that it is coming with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 to India.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Specs

Galaxy S22+

The Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ will have 6.1-inch and 6.6-inch displays respectively. They will have a Full HD+ flat panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits brightness. They will have a hole-punch cutout at the top center for a 10MP front camera.

Both S22+ and S22 will have a glass back and support a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x zoom.

Galaxy S22

The Samsung Galaxy S22 will have a 3700mAh battery with 25W fast charging whereas the Galaxy S22+ will have a 4500mAh battery with 45W fast charging.

All the 3 devices in the series will run Android 12 based One UI 4.1 out of the box. In related news, Samsung has also confirmed that the Galaxy S22 Series and future Samsung Products will include repurposed ocean-bound plastics. The company aims to minimize the environmental footprint and help foster more sustainable lifestyles for the Galaxy community.
