Samsung Galaxy S20 Hands-On Video Confirms Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner, 120Hz Display and more

A recent one shows off the purported Galaxy S20 in the flesh. So besides a visual manifestation, we also have affirmation on support for Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner, 120Hz Display, and more features.

The source of the leak remains XDADevelopers Contributor Max Weinbach. Here’s a video he shared on his YouTube channel.

The display you see on this handset is reported of 3200 x 1440 pixels resolution with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Interestingly, the source also claims the same resolution and aspect ratio for the different S20 models.

Source: Max Weinbach

The display will apparently stick to an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is found in the precursors. This doesn’t seem like Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic fingerprint tech, however.

Next up, the report warrants the presence of a 120Hz refresh rate. Within settings, you’ll have the option to toggle between 60Hz and 120Hz. But, the bummer is that this smoother refresh will be available at FHD+ resolution only, while 60Hz will kick in at both FHD and WQHD.

Rest, there will be a 4500 mAh battery backed by 25W fast charger on the S20+, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB UFS 3.0 storage, absence of headphone jack, USB-C port, and a bundled AKG earphones amongst other things.

The Ultra model will be the stupendous one of the lot. It is said to feature a 5000mAh battery with a 45W fast charge, 108MP main, 48MP (10X optical zoom, 12MP ultra-wide, up to 16GB RAM, 512GB onboard storage and 1TB SD card expansion.

We are still about a month away from the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event at LA. But we won’t be surprised if more details come our way.

Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra Camera Specs and Features have leaked

January 14, 2020, 4:05 P.M.

After a recent leak gave us a good view of the Samsung Galaxy S20+, the latest leak from the same source sheds light on the camera hardware and features they bring about. Although we already knew the rectangle design the rear camera panel adheres to, the new set of images gives a better understanding of the setup.

Leaks and rumors suggest a total of 4 camera sensors accompanied by a mic hole and a flash source. To put it differently, here’s what the sensor arrangement would turn out to be –

  • S20:12MP (Sony IMX 555primarysensor with 1.8μm pixel size) +64MP (Samsung ISOCell S5KGW2)+12MP
  • S20+:12MP+64MP+12MP+ToF
  • S20U:108MP+48MP (10X optical)+12MP+ToF
  • While the telephoto sensor on the S20 phones will employ 30X zoom capability, save for Ultra edition which will boast 100X zoom.

As for the front camera, you are in most likeliness going to get the Sony IMX374 10MP sensor found within the Galaxy S10/Note 10.

In case you’re wondering, the rumored 108MP camera might ship with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra. Besides the gigantic sensor, the phone is said to flaunt 100X hybrid zoom.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Camera Features

Smart Selfie Angle

Source; XDAdevelopers

As the above image clearly mentions, the feature will auto-detect if there are more than 2 people in the frame and accordingly switch to wide-angle and cover a broader canvas.

Single Take Photo

This is a quirky feature wherein the phone will capture a bunch of pics and videos of the subject. Once done, it will suggest the best shot. To use this mode, all you gotta do is pan, tilt and roll the camera around the subject.

Video recording

As you can see from the above screenshots, the S20 will apparently support up to 8K video recording @30fps. Rest, it seems to offer 4K video shooting @60fps from both front and rear cameras.

There is even a pro mode to tap into technical aspects and fine command the camera hardware while recording videos. However, the speculated Director’s Mode is nowhere to be seen. For those who aren’t familiar, this mode lets a user simultaneously use multiple lenses without losing focus.

All these sounds interesting for sure. But, we would like to hold our expectations until the phone debuts and we get to test dem cameras.

Samsung Galaxy S20+ Real-world Photos Confirm the Make, Model and Design

So, it’s confirmed – The Samsung Flagship phone series headlining 2020 will carry the Galaxy S20 moniker. The rumor that the South Korean Chaebol will leap to the S20 naming scheme this year has come true. A fresh leak has revealed the exclusive design, distinctive camera housing and of course the model name i.e., Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G.

This is courtesy of Max Weinbach from XDADevelopers. He claims five models under the new Galaxy series viz. Samsung Galaxy S20, S20 5G, S20+, S20+ 5G, and S20 Ultra 5G. The leaked images have the Confidentiality label, which strengthens the credibility of the leak. Still, it’s advised to take the following details with a pinch of salt.

One of the pics shows the phone’s boot screen with the make and model. Another image exhibits the phone’s Infinity O center punch hole camera. The bezels all across the board are slimmer. The XDA’s contributor also remarks on the handset’s flatter footprint compared to its ancestors.

Flip to the back and we get a look at the speculated domino-shaped camera panel. This is said to include a 108MP primary shooter accompanied by an ultra-wide, 48MP 5x telephoto sensor and a macro lens.

Although the latest leak lines up with rumors, we are yet to gain affirmation on the key specs. And mind you, this time around, we might witness a lot many models on the show, unlike yesteryears. So even more reasons to look forward to the Unpacked 2020 event.

Samsung Galaxy S20 may feature 120Hz Display and 108MP camera: Reports

January 8, 2020, 10:05 AM IST

Samsung Galaxy S20, the next flagship phone from the South Korean conglomerate’s upcoming flagship, will come with a high refresh-rate display.

As per the Sam Mobile’s latest report, the upcoming Galaxy S series lineup – the Galaxy S20 family will have displays with 120Hz refresh rate. If this turns out to be true, it will be Samsung’s first-ever smartphone with a high refresh rate screen. Current Samsung flagships – the Galaxy Note 10+ and Galaxy S10+ – both feature a 60Hz AMOLED screen.

Over the years, Samsung flagship smartphones offered the best smartphone displays. With likes of OnePlus, Realme, Xiaomi, Asus, Google, and Huawei already offering higher refresh rate screens in their smartphones, it’s very likely for the Samsung 2020 flagship phones to join the fray

Recently, an option to change the display refresh rate between 60Hz to 120Hz was spotted in a One UI Beta build which also corroborates that a faster refresh rate screen is under development.

Samsung’s recently announced mobile processor i.e. Exynos 990 should be at the heart of the Galaxy S20 series in India.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2020 set to take place on February 11

January 6, 2020, 11:11 AM IST

Source: Samsung

Samsung has officially announced the unveiling date of their new Galaxy phone as of February 11, 2020. It will be held in San Francisco at 11 a.m. PT (12:30 a.m. IST). Before the official tweet came, the unpacking date had leaked via a promotional video on the brand’s official press channel. Nevertheless, now that we know the date, place and time, the only mystery is the phone’s official name. Plus, the so-called Galaxy Fold 2 is also speculated to make its premiere.

Here’s what you could expect at the Galaxy Unpacked 2020 event –

Samsung Galaxy S11 or is it S20?

Chronologically speaking, the next Samsung Galaxy Flagship should be called Galaxy S11. But lately, a chronic Samsung leakster named Ice Universe has sparked a rumor that the successor to the S10 series will be Galaxy S20.

If this happens to be true, then that would be a leap in the naming scheme, but one which is understandable. The South Korean Giant might choose to start the new decade with a new name. Thus the S20 moniker and three phones under that umbrella – Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, Galaxy S20e, and Galaxy S20 5G.

Besides the nomenclature, we have a fair guess of what could be the possible spec sheet be.

Historically, Samsung has shipped Exynos chip in select markets while the rest released with Snapdragon SoC. This year the chip contenders are its in-house Exynos 990 and Snapdragon 865.

On the camera front, you might get a quad-camera setup on the rear side of the regular and Plus edition. The primary camera is rumored to be a 108MP sensor that would employ 9-in-1 pixel binning to out 12MP photos. Rests, the quartet will comprise of 48MP sensor with up to 5x optical zoom, and finally an ultrawide shooter too.

The frontier could sport a 120Hz sAMOLED display on the regular and the Plus model. The renders suggest an Infinity O central punch hole.

Even a Galaxy Fold 2, or is it Bloom or Galaxy Z Flip?

Just the other month, we got a big chest of the professed Galaxy Fold 2‘s live-images. This solidified our expectation of a successor to the Galaxy Fold.

So for now, we think the Galaxy S series and Fold 2 are likely on the cards. Most of the details are up in the air. Ergo, we would suggest you take them with the proverbial grain of salt.
