Reliance Jio will now be offering 20 percent extra data to Reliance Lyf smartphone users, as is pointed out by a banner on MyLyf website. But there is a catch involved.
The extra data will only be applicable to Lyf Water branded phones that are priced between Rs. 6,600 and Rs. 9,700. According to the promotional banner, the offer is valid on Water 1, Water 7s, and Water 10 smartphones till the stock last. The extra data will be counted above your original plan. That is to say, 1GB per day limit will be enhanced to 1.2GB per day for eligible users.

The offer comes at a time when sales for Lyf branded phones are going downhill. According to CyberMedia Research, the number of units sold has slumped from 22 Lakhs in September 2016 to 7.5 Lakhs in the last quarter of 2016. One major contributing factor to the decline was the availability of Jio 4G services to all 4G phones. Back then, Reliance Jio SIM card was available only on Lyf branded phones, which isn’t the case today.
It must be mentioned that Reliance’s Lyf phones aren’t the only ones getting additional data. Many other manufacturers like Samsung and Lenovo are bundling their new launches with copious Jio data as introductory offers.
