Reliance Jio has brought back Jio Prime. For a one-time fee of ₹300, existing prepaid and postpaid users can lock in today’s recharge prices until September 5, 2027. Enrollment opens on August 20, with banners already visible on the MyJio app.

Members can switch between eligible Jio plans and still keep the price protection. Additional benefits include ₹600 worth of cashback vouchers (₹300 for a new JioHome or JioPC connection and ₹300 for referring a new Jio SIM), priority customer support, and early access to new Jio products and trials.

The timing is notable. Just over a week earlier, Airtel discontinued multiple prepaid plans including the ₹299, ₹319, ₹579, ₹619, ₹649 and ₹799 packs, and raised its ₹859 plan to ₹899. The ₹299 pack has effectively been replaced by the ₹349 plan. Sector analysts expect the next industry-wide tariff increases sometime in late 2026.
Jio has not announced any tariff changes alongside the Prime relaunch. The membership effectively sells protection against a possible future hike. Users who believe prices will rise may find the ₹300 fee reasonable given the vouchers, but it also allows Jio to collect an upfront fee from customers concerned about higher recharges.
