Airtel just pulled the trigger on a fairly large batch of prepaid plans in one go. Instead of a single flagship price hike, today’s changes cover multiple price points, several of which were among the more popular affordable options in Airtel’s lineup.
The ₹299, ₹319, ₹649 and ₹799 Plans Are Gone
The ₹299 plan is the most notable one to go. It was Airtel’s cheapest recharge with daily data and unlimited calling, offering 1GB of data per day for 28 days along with the usual SMS and Hello Tunes benefits. Its removal pushes the effective entry point for an unlimited Airtel connection higher.
The ₹319 and ₹649 plans have also been discontinued alongside it, along with the ₹799 pack. The latter offered 1.5GB of data per day with 77 days of validity and was a popular mid-tier option for users who didn’t want to commit to a full 84-day recharge.
₹579 and ₹619 Plans Removed in Select Circles
The ₹579 and ₹619 plans are part of this cleanup too, though their removal isn’t uniform yet. Reports indicate that these two plans have been pulled specifically in the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand circles for now, while they’re still showing up on the website in some other regions.
Circle-by-circle rollouts are a common way for Airtel to test changes before expanding them nationwide, so these two plans could disappear more broadly in the coming weeks. At the time of writing, I couldn’t find these plans for my Airtel SIM card in the Telangana circle.
Airtel Hikes ₹859 Plan to ₹899
Separately, the ₹859 plan hasn’t been discontinued, but its price has increased to ₹899 while the benefits remain unchanged. This is another part of Airtel’s approach this year, with some plans being removed entirely while others become more expensive for the same benefits.
₹199 Plan Reports Remain Unclear
There’s also some noise around the ₹199 plan going missing for a handful of users, though this one remains unclear. A few people have reported it vanishing from their recharge options, while others say it’s still available. At the time of writing, I could find the ₹199 plan for my Airtel SIM card in the Telangana circle.
Airtel Continues to Cut Prepaid Plans
Looking at Airtel’s broader changes this year, the pattern is becoming clear. Airtel removed its ₹189 entry-level plan in November 2025, increased the price of its international roaming pack from ₹4,000 to ₹4,999, and has now removed six more plans in a single week while increasing the price of another.
Airtel is trimming and repricing its portfolio plan by plan. This approach gives the company more flexibility to adjust individual price points across its prepaid lineup.
If you’re currently using any of the ₹299, ₹319, ₹579, ₹619, ₹649, or ₹799 plans, don’t count on being able to renew the same pack next cycle. It’s worth checking the Airtel Thanks app for available options before your current validity expires.
