The Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio is currently at the top of the list of telecom operators providing 4G data in terms of speed, if one goes by the latest data given out by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) analytic portal.

The portal, formulated and launched last year, has been designed to show users in detail about network coverage, data speed in their area and Quality of Service (QoS) of their telecom operators. It was launched along with an app called MySpeed that is used by the organisation to measure as well as upload internet speed.

As per the data compiled for the month of April, it was the Indian company Jio that reigned supreme. According to the compiled data, Jio occupies the first position with a download speed of 19.123Mbps, after which lie Vodafone (13.387Mbps) and Idea (13.709 Mbps) at the second and third place of the order.

Jio’s fierce rival Airtel is currently lying at the bottom of the pool according to the data, with a download speed of 10.153Mbps.

Furthermore, according to TRAI, Jio’s speed has seen a constant rise in the positive direction over the past couple of months, having gone up from 16.487 in February to 18.487 in the month of March to its current position for April.

Even though Jio is the boss when it comes to comparing the download speeds, it is not the same case when we talk about the upload speed, where Idea is the numero uno at present.

With an upload speed of 8.459Mbps, it is at the first position, followed by Vodafone with 7.333Mbps and Jio 5.275Mbps occupying the second and third place respectively.

The data, TRAI says, is the average value of the data speed samples collected from numerous TSPs customers during the speed test initiated by them, on a crowdsourcing basis.

Earlier, going by the same data, it had been found that Jio was the slowest of the lot but now, it seems, the tables have turned.

Time to rejoice Jio users!
