Reliance Jio AX6000 Universal Wi-Fi 6 Router Specifications

First and foremost, the new Reliance Jio AX6000 Wi-Fi router supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) technology and delivers up to 6 Gbps of combined download speed (4.8 Gbps on the 5 GHz band and 1.2 Gbps on the 2.4 GHz band). The router also supports a single SSID for intelligent switching between bands for optimal performance.

The router has a coverage range of up to 2,000 square feet (via hidden antennas), making it suitable for medium to large homes. It can handle 100+ simultaneous connections (including smartphones, laptops, smart TVs, and other IoT devices) using MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multi-Input, Multi-Output) and OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) technologies.

It’s worth noting that the router only supports the DHCP protocol, i.e., it doesn’t support PPPoE or IPoE protocols, which affects the device’s usability in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

While DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a network protocol used by many modern ISPs (Internet Service Providers) commonly used by fiber-based or broadband services like JioFiber or Airtel Xstream, PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet) is widely used by ISPs like BSNL, MTNL, and other local service providers that rely on older broadband structures.

Hence, the DHCP-only nature of the router leaves it incompatible with ISPs that require PPPoE or IPoE authentication.

The Wi-Fi 6 router features a quad-core processor for faster, smoother performance and provides 4x Gigabit LAN ports for high-speed wired connections (along with one WAN port). To set up the device, buyers must download and install the JioHome app (the device doesn’t offer plug-and-play functionality), which also enables network management, parental controls, and guest network configuration.

Additional features of the Reliance Jio AX6000 Universal Wi-Fi Router include 4K/8K streaming, lag-free gaming, WPA3 advanced security (with 192-bit encryption, guest network support, and parental controls), Jio True AI Mesh support (for network expansion), and a one-year warranty (six months for the power adapter). The router also includes a dedicated 2.4 GHz IoT Onboarding Mode for smart devices.
