Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio could soon announce its laptop with 4G LTE connectivity. Reports are that the firm is in talks with the San Diego’s chipmaker Qualcomm to develop ‘Always Connected PCs’ with built-in Jio cellular connectivity, just like the Jio Phones.

As reported by ET, Qualcomm has already talked to Jio and given them the permission to take their device and bundle it with data and content. The last time both parties teamed up was for JioPhone which had Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 Mobile chipset powering the smart feature phone.

If the said information is true, then this could be the Reliance ‘JioLaptop’ powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, running on Windows 10, and supporting Jio SIM connectivity.

In India, apart from Jio, Qualcomm is also working with smartphone brand Smatron for its Snapdragon 835 SoC-powered laptop. While Smartron has confirmed the talk, Reliance Jio is yet to make it public.

This is the first time we are hearing talks of Always-Connected PCs in India. The concept from Qualcomm was launched last year in December, and the leading chipset maker partnered with several global leaders like HP,, Asus and Lenovo to bring such laptops. They have already started shipping the products in markets such as the US. Qualcomm says it now has support from 14 operators for the release of such connected PCs including Verizon, AT&T and Sprint in the US and other major carriers in Germany, Italy, the UK, France and Australia.
