Xiaomi sides with MediaTek Helio G90T for Note 8 Pro and Snapdragon 665 for Redmi Note 8

Xiaomi is bracing up for the Redmi Note 8 series launch event on August 29, 2019, in China. If you feel the Note 7 and Note 7 Pro came just a while ago, you’re absolutely right. Its been a matter of months and Redmi is already updating its Note lineup to match the competition. As we are closing in the big event, the leaks and rumors are also getting generous. The web is sprawling with pretty much everything about the upcoming Redmi Note 8 and Note 8 Pro.

Just so you know, we might witness the unveiling of purported 70-inch Redmi 4K smart TV, a Redmibook 14 laptop and the much-needed refresh to MIUI OS during the event.

Note 8, Note 8 Pro variants and price leak

A report reveals that the Note 8 Pro will be out in 2 variants – 6GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB. Coming to the price, the base model will cost around RMB 1,799 (which translates to Rs 18,000). The bigger 8GB model will carry a price tag of RMB 2,099 (circa Rs 21,000).

Note 8, on the other hand, will reportedly arrive in a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage model costing around RMB 1,199 (or Rs 12,000). For now, the details on other variants are still under the rug. However, you won’t be wrong to expect other memory options.

Note 8, Note 8 Pro other confirmed specs

At the crux, the Note 8 Pro will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G90T SoC, while the regular Note 8 sticks to Snapdragon 665 chipset.

The company has confirmed the camera details too. Both the phones will come flaunting a quad rear camera setup. This gets better on the Pro variant as its primary camera will have a 64MP sensor. This one is rumored to support 25x zoom as well, which would be just icing on the cake. The Note 8 won’t be a lackey as its main shooter is going to be a 48MP sensor. Rest of the camera panel will be home to three cameras, viz., Super Wide Angle, Depth of Field and Super Macro.

This time around, the Redmi phones will ship with a high-capacity 4500mAh battery that would be 18W charging complaint. Traditionally, smaller Redmi phones don’t bring the fast charger and hence, Note 8 might carry a 10W charger out of the box.

The new Redmi phones will continue the USB-C and 3.5mm headphone jack inclusion, just like the precursors. Speaking of similarities, you might get a similar design language as the K20 series. The familiar gradient finish and Gorilla glass body might transit to the new Notes. The horizontal camera panel might shift to the center and right beneath it, the good old fingerprint scanner might abode.
