Earlier this week, we talked about Qualcomm launching a chipset in Gen 4 Series that will power budget smartphones around the world. The chipmaker had also confirmed that Redmi would be the 1st brand to launch a device with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset. Finally, that smartphone has gone official in China. Redmi Note 12R has silently been launched in its home country China which is the 1st ever device with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset.

Redmi Note 12R: Specs

Redmi Note 12R is powered by a 6.79-inch IPS LCD panel with an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a 5MP front camera and a dual camera setup at the back including a 50MP main and a 2MP macro lens.

It is powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and has up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The smartphone packs a 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging and runs MIUI 14 based on Android 13.

The Redmi Note 12R has a design that is similar to the rest of the Redmi 12 Series. It is a cheaper alternative to the Redmi Note 12R Pro that also looks like the Redmi 12, but is expected to outperform the 12R Pro because of a newer chipset.
