Exclusive: Realme’s Francis Wong Explains Tech Behind the Narzo Power’s 10001mAH Battery

In a 2026 market obsessed with AI gimmicks, realme is betting that what Indian users actually want is a phone that refuses to die. Here is the engineering behind the three-day battery.

Have you ever imagined a day when you could get a phone with a 10,000mAh battery inside? About a year ago, I bought a power bank labeled with 10,000mAh. That number is usually reserved for power banks, not something you’d expect to fit comfortably in your pocket. But as we move into 2026, realme is attempting to change that.

Last month, the company made waves by launching the realme P4 Power on Flipkart, the first mainstream device to break the five-figure battery threshold. Now, they are doubling down. Ahead of the official debut of the realme NARZO Power 5G, I sat down virtually with Francis Wong, CMO at realme India, to understand why the company is obsessed with this specific, staggering number: 10,001mAh.

That extra “1” isn’t just a typo; it’s a branding flag planted in the sand. But in an era where software efficiency usually trumps raw hardware capacity, is a 10,001mAh battery a breakthrough or just a very heavy security blanket?

Silicon vs. Physics: How realme Skinned a 10,001mAh Battery

The primary hurdle for massive batteries has always been physics. Typically, a 10,000mAh cell would result in a device that feels like a brick. Wong, however, insists that the NARZO Power manages to stay remarkably slim at roughly 9.08mm.

“We refused to accept that a massive battery had to mean a bulky phone,” Wong explained. The secret lies in a shift from traditional graphite anodes to Silicon Anode technology with 16% ultra-high silicon. This allows for significantly higher energy density, essentially packing more “juice” into the same physical volume.

By shrinking the internal protection circuit board by 30% through C+F pack technology, realme has managed to keep the device’s weight at 219g. For context, that’s only 1 gram heavier than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, but it offers double the battery capacity.

Breaking the One-Day Cycle

The 10,001mAh figure is a strategic attempt to dismantle what Wong calls the “one-day charging mindset.” In the Indian market, where power reliability can vary, and high-intensity gaming is a primary use case, “battery anxiety” is a real metric.

However, a large battery is a liability if it degrades quickly. realme is countering this with a 4-year battery warranty and a claim of 1,650 charge cycles—roughly double the industry standard.

“We aren’t just promising a large battery; we are guaranteeing mass-market reliability that lasts until 2030,” Wong said. The company is even promising a free replacement if battery health drops below 80% within four years, a bold claim that will surely put their service infrastructure to the test.

HyperVision+ AI chip and what it does?

Interestingly, realme’s AI story for 2026 isn’t just about chatbots. The NARZO Power features a dedicated HyperVision+ AI chip that serves a critical, pragmatic function: efficiency.

While Wong highlighted its role in boosting gaming frame rates—claiming a 16% reduction in power consumption at 90 FPS—the chip’s real value is in thermal management. By offloading intensive tasks from the main MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra, the device generates less heat. Combined with a massive 4613mm² Vapor Cooling chamber, the goal is to ensure that a 10,001mAh cell doesn’t become a literal pocket warmer during a BGMI marathon.

A Dual-Platform Strategy and Memory Prices

The most telling part of our conversation was about the “Why” and the “How.” Global component costs—particularly RAM—are surging in 2026. Wong admitted that the biggest trade-off has been realme’s own profit margins.

To manage this, realme is employing a “Dual Platform Strategy.” The P4 Power remains a Flipkart exclusive, while the upcoming NARZO Power is tailored for the Amazon audience.

“Instead of reducing base RAM or storage, we streamline our portfolio to manage costs more effectively,” Wong added. “We are choosing long-term user loyalty over short-term profitability.”

“By making the NARZO series an Amazon Special and keeping the P series exclusive to Flipkart, we can tailor our supply chain and marketing efforts specifically for each platform’s audience,” Wong noted.

Practical AI: Hybrid over Hype

The industry’s push for on-device AI requires massive RAM, the exact component currently skyrocketing in price. realme’s solution is a hybrid approach.

Instead of forcing everything to run locally and driving up hardware costs, realme uses the right technology for the right task. Essential, real-time features like AI Perfect Shot run directly on the device. More complex tools, like AI Edit Genie 2.0 (which uses voice commands to edit photos) or AI Writer, utilize secure cloud processing.

“We focus on practical, high-impact tools that people actually use,” Wong explained. This balance allows them to offer high-quality AI experiences without making the necessary hardware prohibitively expensive for their core buyers.
