Qualcomm Snapdragon 670, 640 and 460 Details Leak Ahead Of Official Launch

As everyone preps for the year 2018, so does the chipset-maker Qualcomm. After announcing its Snapdragon 845 SoC for high-end phones, Qualcomm new chipsets are all set to rock the mid-range smartphones of 2018. These include the Snapdragon 670, 640 and 460.

Qualcomm will announce these chipsets early next year but, thanks to Weibo we have some information ahead of the official unveiling. Let’s take a look at the specification of these chipsets.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 670

The Snapdragon 670 is the top-most chipset out of the three. It succeeds Snapdragon 660 and will be made on the newer 10nm fabrication process. The CPU features Qualcomm’s own eight Kyro cores, where the first four are Kyro 360 and the remaining Kyro 385.

The Snapdragon 670 will be paired with Adreno 620 GPU and has camera support of up to 26MP for single sensor or the dual of 13MP each. In terms of connectivity, it will come with LTE Cat 16 with maximum download speeds of 1Gbps and upload speeds of 150Mbps.

Highlights of Snapdragon 670 SoC

Qualcomm Snapdragon 640

The second mid-range processor is Snapdragon 640. Just like its elder sibling, the Snapdragon 640 is also formed on the 10nm fabrication process. But, instead of 4+4 cores division, it uses 6+2 combination, where the first six are Kryo 360 cores clocked at 1.55 GHz and the rests are Kryo 360 cores clocked at 2.15 GHz.

While the camera specification of Snapdragon 640 remains the same 670, it is integrated with Adreno 610 GPU. Connectivity on the same include X12 LTE modem with Cat 12 support, which allows for download speeds up to 600Mbps, and upload speeds up to 150Mbps.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 460

The Snapdragon 460 succeeds the 450 and will be built on 14nm process. The chipset will feature eight cores – four Kryo 360 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz and four Kryo 360 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz.

As for the camera, the Snapdragon 460 supports a single camera of up to 21-megapixel resolution. Connectivity option comprises of X12 LTE modem with Cat 12 support, that maximum download and upload speed up to 600Mbps 150Mbps, respectively.

  • 4x Kryo360 Silver 1.80GHz + 4x Kryo360 Silver 1.40GHz
  • Adreno 605 GPU
  • Snapdragon X12 LTE Modem

More information on their availability and regarding which will be the first smartphone to employ these chipsets will be revealed from the sets of Qualcomm event at CES 2018.
