JioTV is one of the most complete options for anyone who wishes to watch Live TV online in India. Moreover, it’s also available for free (at least for the next couple of months) and grants users an option to watch Jio TV on PC.

However, if you are still not a part of Jio ecosystem and don’t have a Jio SIM in your phone, you can opt for alternate Live TV options as well. There are a few apps similar to Jio TV that we have listed below. You can use one of these alternatives instead to watch Live TV on your phone.

Airtel TV

Airtel also has a Live TV app available for Android and iOS users. Apart from Live TV, the app also has a rich collection of Movies and TV shows for which Airtel has partnered with Hooq, Eros, YouTube, Zee, and Sony. The app also has Chromecast support.

Channels are neatly organized under different genres and languages, but they still feel limited in comparison to Jio TV. You won’t get access to Star network and Colors network channels either.

Hotstar is the perfect place to be if you need to watch any channel on Star Network. Hotstar also has rights for IPL telecast online and premium users can watch live sports using the app. Apart from Star network, you will also find HBO Originals, National Geographic and many other blockbusters in the catalog.

You can watch most popular Hindi and regional language shows for free but for unrestricted access to all content and Live TV, you will need a premium subscription (one-month free trial, 199 INR per months).

Vodafone Play

Vodafone also has a little something for its users. The app has a rich catalogue of movies and TV shows and integrates content from Eros, Hungama play, Youtube, Hooq, and others. There is a separate Kids section as well.

For Live TV, Vodafone has partnered with Ditto and Yup TV and that together accounts for a decent number of channels. The service is free for the first three months post which you will have to pay a nominal fee of Rs. 49 per month.

Voot is a free app that you can use for watching shows on Colors network. The app puts Big Boss under the spotlight. You can watch Big Boss live, watch uncut scenes from the show or catch up with old episodes.

Unless you are a ‘Big Boss’ Fan, there isn’t much incentive for choosing Voot over other streaming options.

Sony Liv

Sony Liv is for live cricket, live TV, Sony originals, and movies. As you would have figured out, this app integrates shows and TV affiliated with Sony Entertainment Network.

Sony Liv has an intuitive interface and works on multiple platforms. You will have pay for Premium subscription for Live TV, though.

Ditto TV

Ditto TV, the digital ARM of Zee Network, is also a Live TV service that you can enjoy for a nominal fee. The subscription for the entire year costs just Rs. 250 and you can also go for Rs. 20 monthly packs.

The catalog includes 80+ live channels with up to 7 days playback on selected channels. The app doesn’t aggregate TV shows, movies or any other content apart from the Live TV.

Ozee is another app from Zee network that can give you access to the Live broadcast of Zee network shows and also integrates Movies, Music and other content in separate categories.

More than Live TV, Ozee is for catching up shows of Zee network and for watching movies that the Zee has licensed.

Yupp TV

Yupp TV is perhaps one of the oldest Live TV service in India (one that LeEco partnered with for Live TV content before it imploded). This is a service better suited for people who need to consume South-Indian language media content and also for those who need to watch Live TV.

Yupp TV content repository includes South Indian movies, TV, Spiritual channels, and a few Hindi and English language Music and news channels.

Just as Yupp TV, the NexGTV is meant for users who consume regional language content (rather than Hindi or English).

NexG TV offers several short-term plans starting at Rs. 5 for a day. You can also pay Rs. 35 for a week or Rs. 99 for a month.

Apps like Jio TV that you can try

These are some of the best Jio TV alternatives that you can try for watching Live TV. The choice should primarily depend on your choice of Telecom operator. But if you don’t wish to go with Airtel TV or Vodafone Play, you can also go for individual network apps like Hotstar, Ditto, or Sony Liv.
