Apple TV 4K India Price Hiked Massively: Why it is No Longer a Great Deal

The streaming box was once the easiest Apple product to recommend. Now, at nearly double the price, it costs as much as an iPad.

TL;DR
  • The base 64GB Apple TV 4K just jumped from ₹14,900 to ₹25,900 (a 73% increase), while the 128GB model climbed to ₹31,900 (an 88% increase).
  • The hardware is exactly the same. The price hike is due to the rising global cost of memory and storage components.
  • The Apple TV 4K is no longer a smart buy for the average user. Unless you are deeply tied to the Apple ecosystem, save your money and buy a ₹6,000 Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max or Google Chromecast instead.

Apple quietly raised the price of the Apple TV 4K in India, turning it from a solid, affordable streaming box into a luxury product.

The base model now costs ₹25,900, up from ₹14,900. That is a 73 percent increase. The 128GB version costs even more. At this price, it is no longer the easiest Apple product to recommend.

Here is what changed, why Apple did it, and what you should consider buying instead.

The new pricing, by the numbers

The new price puts the Apple TV 4K in the same range as entry-level iPads and premium smart TVs, not streaming dongles.

ModelOld PriceNew PricePrice Hike
Wi-Fi (64GB)₹14,900₹25,900₹11,000 (73%)
Wi-Fi + Ethernet (128GB)₹16,900₹31,900₹15,000 (88%)

Availability: The new pricing is currently live on Apple’s online store in India.

Why the price tag just exploded

Apple did not issue a press release for this change, but the writing has been on the wall for a few months.

On a recent earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook said rising memory and storage costs would affect prices. The Apple TV 4K feels this more than other Apple products. Unlike an iPhone, which has expensive displays and cameras, a streaming box is mostly memory, storage, and a processor. When those parts get pricier, the Apple TV gets more expensive too.

The hardware has not changed. You now pay much more for the same 3rd-generation device with the A15 Bionic chip, Dolby Vision, and HDR10+.

The end of the “best value” narrative

For years, the Apple TV 4K was the easiest way to get into the Apple ecosystem. For under ₹15,000, you get a fast, ad-free interface, long-term software updates, and smooth integration with your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Music. It was an obvious upgrade over the slow, built-in apps on most smart TVs.

At ₹25,900, it no longer adds up.

A streaming box is ultimately a tool. Its main job is to play Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube in 4K without lag. The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max costs about ₹6,000. The Apple TV offers a better user experience, no ads, and strong privacy protections. But for most people, those extras are not worth paying four times more.

The Apple TV 4K is no longer an easy recommendation. It is now a luxury accessory.

You should still buy it if:

  • You are deeply embedded in the Apple ecosystem (Apple One, HomePod stereo pairs, Apple Arcade).
  • You absolutely refuse to deal with the slow, ad-heavy interfaces of standard smart TVs and Fire Sticks.
  • Price is not a primary concern for your home theater setup.

You should skip it if:

  • You just want to watch movies and shows in 4K. Grab a Fire TV Stick 4K Max or a Google Chromecast.
  • You have ₹25,000+ to spend on living room entertainment. At that price, you could buy an Xbox Series S (which doubles as a formidable streaming box) or put the money toward a significantly better television.
