So, what makes the #OPPOReno2 tick? Let’s elaborate.
Fabulous Design backed by an immersive, gorgeous screen
OPPO uses premium glass and metal construction and meticulous attention it pays to finer details makes the Reno2 stand apart. For instance, the quad rear cameras don’t bulge and are instead housed underneath the toughened 5th Generation Corning® Gorilla® Glass. This further makes the curved back gracious to look and extremely ergonomic to grip.
On the front, you will find a gorgeous 6.55-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen that’s not interrupted by any sort of cutout or notch and runs edge to edge (93% screen-to-body ratio). The use of panoramic 20:9 aspect ratio, vivid colors, and high contrast from this bright OLED panel make the phone ideal for consuming multimedia content.
Moreover, the screen is fit for use in all environments. Outdoors, the panel can achieve peak brightness of 600-700 Nits and is perfectly legible. For use in darker ambience, OPPO adds a very effective eye protect mode and a lowlight flicker-free mode (DC Dimming) to make the screen lighter on eyes.
The fascia is shielded by super durable 6th Generation Corning® Gorilla® Glass that’s known to offer the best protection against accidental drops.
Reno2’s seamless and continuous screen was made possible with the use of an elevating camera. And not just a regular pop-up camera at that. The Reno 2, too, has a Shark-fin rising module that spirals at 11-degrees and takes just 0.8 seconds to elevate. The module is smart enough to retract itself whenever the phone detects a free fall.
The snappy fingerprint reader, proximity sensor and light sensor are all hidden underneath the display, resulting in a flawless one-piece body.
Not just the front and back, but the top and bottom have been thoughtfully designed. These brandish crescent curved design helps with smooth handling when you hold the phone in landscape orientation and also ensures that the audio output from speaker holes isn’t blocked. And yes, even while being packed with innovative hardware to the brim, Reno2 retains the audio jack!

Amazing 48MP quad-camera system
When its OPPO our camera expectations naturally jump high. And, the Reno2 doesn’t disappoint. Continuing with the tradition of bringing class-leading innovation to its phone cameras, OPPO adds a versatile rear camera system to the Reno2 with four sensors, each to serve a separate need.
Together, the four cameras cover an equivalent focal length ranges from 16mm to 84mm, addressing most practical use cases. The primary 48MP camera has a wide f/1.7 aperture and can capture astonishing details both indoors and outdoors. This is followed by an 8MP snapper with a 116-degrees field of view that can also be used for shooting macro shots.
There’s also a 13MP sensor with a telephoto lens that can be used for two-times zooming in order to get close to the image subjects. The camera software can also use data from three lenses of varying focal lengths to realize flawless 5X Hybrid zoom and 20X digital zoom with amazing clarity.
Lastly, OPPO also adds a 2MP mono lens that helps with depth-sensing in order to enhance performance in portrait mode and to help with portrait lighting effects.
The quad-camera system is stabilized by HIS or Hybrid Image Stabilization that combines both EIS and OIS. The Reno2 also has three microphones for improved noise cancellation and for better audio in videos.
Of course, all these extra sensors would be meaningless were there not a deft software backing the imaging system. OPPO’s smart AI algorithms can accurately determine a scene and tune image capture settings flawlessly.
The camera app has a very handy Ultra Dark Mode that can be used to brighten dark scenes. Other software features that add value include HDR+, portrait mode 2.0, a smart SOLOOP video editor, and many more.
Powerful and long-lasting
The Reno2 employs the powerful Snapdragon 730G octa-core chipset that’s paired with 8GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB high-quality UFS 2.1 storage. The SoC particularly favours gaming, and OPPO Reno2 further backs it up with game-centric features like Game Boost 2.0, Game Space, Game Assistant, and audio noise reduction.
Not just the performance hardware and optimized software, but the Panoramic AMOLED display, Hi-res Dolby ATMOS audio, and long-lasting battery also contribute to the gaming experience.
Needless to say, this is a remarkable device for gamers out there and can handle demanding usage without breaking a sweat.
And even with extensive gaming, you wouldn’t have to fret running out of charge. The handset is fueled by a 4000mAh battery that supports VOOC 3.0 fast & safe charging via USB Type-C port.
A remarkable phone
The Reno2 is a complete phone that thoroughly impressed us with the premium experience on offer. The handset looks stunning, has a mesmerizing display, houses class-leading performance hardware at its heart, and is backed by a long-lasting battery.
But its most impressive aspect has to be its quad-camera system that makes us draw out Reno2 out very frequently even if it’s just to click stuff we would have otherwise ignored. That, in our experience, is the ultimate camera test – the sure mark of an impressive camera is that you’d want to click more pictures.
If you are looking to upgrade your phone, we have no qualms about recommending Reno2. The handset will go on sale on September 20 with the preorder starting from September 10. The device will be available across Amazon, Flipkart and offline stores for a price of Rs 36990.
